My requirement from cosmos is only a Hadoop database & an interface to interact with it. I'd be writing my own MapReduce jobs.
I want to connect Orion to HDFS via Cygnus.
What are the minimal and mandatory tools I need to install under cosmos for this requirement? I think installing only HDFS & HIVE would suffice. Or HIVE is also optional as I can use httpFS or ssh server for the same?

What is the exact difference between HDFS & cosmos? Is cosmos a combination of storage cluster and computing cluster whereas HDFS means only storage cluster or something else?
