Dear all,
We have a quite strong technical vision to bring with our proposal
but we won't have any chance if do not bring a strong portfolio of use
cases that a) are connected to real-world applications and b) can be
seen as genuine compared to use cases presented in competing proposals.
Taken the first requirement as granted ... what can make our use
cases truly genuine ? Definitively, bringing use cases that simply
illustrate how different organizations may exchange data in a trusted
and effective manner to improve whatever process will not be enough,
imho. This is something that absolutely all proposals will be able to
bring.
In that sense, I believe we should define the use cases connected to
a) farm to fork and b) from factory to consumer so that it makes sense
that participant/processes in those use cases can also participate in
the use case defined around the smart stadium. This way, the smart
stadium use case would work as that case that helps to illustrate that
what works in the other use cases (farm to fork, factory to consumer)
can really work for that new case, it's just a matter to connect
everything in a single data space.
@Luis: Some ideas to think about regarding the farm to fork use case
in this respect:
* Think about scenarios connected to proximity: how to connect farmers
with the restaurants or supermarkets
* The restaurants or supermarkets where to serve this food, don't need
to be at the stadium only. Real Madrid, for example, is seeking for
create a "experience" for fans all over the world. You may think
about meat for the barbaque that followers want to enjoy the day of
a match.
* If we involve Digitanimal, whom I guess you know, they are working
on this topic with cattle farmers in Madrid, and sure they can do in
Cantabria, where for sure they have customers. For those farmers in
Madrid, we can connect the farmer with the restaurant in Real Madrid
stadium. For those farmers in Cantabria, we may reach the consumers
who want to have a barbeque.
* we talk about handling emergencies (112 service) around an event in
the stadium ... but dealing with emergencies in rural areas I guess
is a challenge (different challenge but a challenge).
@Ali: Some ideas to think about regarding the factory to consumer use
case in this respect:
* Think about sport products (shoes, shirts, souvenirs) that may be
offered in the shop of the stadium or shops nearby. That can be
manufactured and personalized. Serving products just in time by
connecting demand (shops) with the factory.
* The shops where to serve these manufactured products don't need to
be at the stadium only. Real Madrid, for example, is seeking for
create a "experience" for fans all over the world. You may think
about products that are nice if they arrive, personalized, at home
the day of the match (e.g., signed by the player your kid follows)
@Engineering: you should bring another case. What about smart
building? Solutions you may bring to work for buildings in Italy
(something connected to a mall would be wonderful) will work for a stadium.
Here you have some additional hints of the use cases we need to come
with:
* it would be great to involve some provider which essentially brings
some AI service that fit naturally in the marketplace of data and
data processing services associated to the FIWARE platform adopted
by one of the participant organizations involved in the use case.
The given organization is capable to improve its processes by means
of adding the referred AI service
* it would be great if there is a case for organizations adopting a
FIWARE platform to expose part of their data as priced data
I hope these ideas may help to refine the definition of the use cases.
More to discuss tomorrow.
Cheers,
