Dear colleagues,

first of all thank you very much for your present from my sixties birthday.
My wife and I are enjoying the stay at 'Die Alpbacherin' in Austria.

I hope you were able to digest the information provided during our all
hands meeting last Friday.
Sometimes there are challenges you need to take. This time it was when
Hubert Tardieu asked me on May 25th in Helsinki whether I would be willing
to apply as CEO of Gaia-X.
It was similar to seven years ago when the ATOS Germany CEO gave me a call
on a Friday afternoon asking whether I would be interested in applying for
the role as CEO of FIWARE. He gave me 24 hours to think about it and for me
it was a quick decision. Despite all the planning, career development is
often a matter of chance after all.

I will formally take over the role as Gaia-X CEO on November 1st. But I
will join two Gaia-X events already during October (a meeting with the
Governmental Advisory Board and a strategy meeting with the Chair and
Vice-Chairs of the BoD of Gaia-X). On the other hand I be able to act for
FIWARE also after November 1st until the new CEO will be in place. All
parties (first of all Dario and myself) are interested in a smooth
handover. During the next weeks we will also align for which projects I
will stay involved.

The situation with Juanjo came unplanned for him and us and on a very short
notice.
If you will be asked your answer should be: Juanjo is no longer at FIWARE
Foundation and he has moved to Telefónica, effective 2nd of October. Acting
CTO is Jesus Ruiz until the CTO position is filled again.
Outside of regular Telefonica office hours Juanjo will continue to answer
to his FIWARE emails and he will organize the Interim CTO role of Jesus in
close collaboration with him.
