Dear colleagues,
based on the news below let me please share a few words with you:
Formally this is my last day on the FIWARE payroll, more than seven years
after we created the FIWARE Foundation on September 13th, 2016.
Some of you have been working together with me from this time on, most of
you joined during our endeavour.
Together we achieved a lot following our common strategy and FIWARE is in a
stable future oriented situation. Our membership, the amount of our
projects and our team are constantly growing.
A big THANK YOU to all of you!
Knowing FIWARE in this good shape was the main reason why I finally
accepted the challenge at Gaia-X.
We do have several candidates as my successor in FIWARE and most of the
interviews have been done already. Therefore we agreed with the Board of
Officer, the Board of Directors and also with the Gaia-X chairwomen that I
will remain in my FIWARE CEO role for the coming interim period.
So I will still be around and in touch with you but I will need to manage
two calendars which makes my availability for you a bit limited. Therefore
I will be only the first day at the SCEWC in Barcelona as I need to go to
Alicante where the Gaia-X Summit will be next week.
Looking forward to seeing several of you in Barcelona and for sure also in
Berlin during the next weeks.

About a month ago, we informed you about *the upcoming changes in the
FIWARE leadership team*: FIWARE CEO Ulrich Ahle will start his new role as
Gaia-X CEO highly expected from November 1, 2023 (find here

The past month has served to conduct the candidates search and a
first round of interviews with a high quality selection of applicants. This
process is well under way.
FIWARE's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dario Avallone, wants to let
you know: “*The search for our next CEO has begun, and we look forward to
identifying the right leader to work with the management team, our FIWARE
Board of Officers, to support the foundation’s future global growth - and
its growth in all verticals of focus. We all share the team’s excitement
about the FIWARE’s innovative strength and the opportunities that lie ahead
to serve our members and partners, and ultimately the market for a common
good*.”
*Expecting a limited interim period, Ulrich Ahle will remain in his FIWARE
CEO role in addition to his new Gaia-X role until the successor is in
place.*
We would like to thank Ulrich once more for his leadership and assistance
in completing the onboarding of FIWARE's next CEO and his commitment to
ensuring a successful transition while providing excellent care for our
community and the overall ecosystem.
