To: Mr Mark Smitham, We're writing to invite your organization to join a consortium of partners we're forming or otherwise assist in responding to the European Commission's call for proposals entitled "ICT-06-2016: Cloud Computing " within the Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2016 – 2017. Our approach is based on a platform our partnership proposes to assemble from new and existing components using a detailed blueprint developed over the last decade. This platform will be delivered as part of a separate proposal, and will enable individuals and devices to collaborate massively in peer-to-peer, decentralized workflows that can be connected to new software and physical devices far more scalably. A quick overview can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL43ivsFmg0 In our approach any particular choice of technology or architecture is just a starting point for development. We are defining a collaborative innovation process which adds useful features or deletes restrictive ones according to the direction identified by an algorithm we've designed to converge on the best collective wisdom, an innovation process that also objectively measures outcomes to refine that wisdom. While studying the problems over the last decade we've come to believe some innovation was necessary to realize this vision and have contributed highly original work across very specialized disciplines that can’t easily be duplicated. But our focus is on finding ways to be inclusive of different ideas and giving them room to explore rather than excluding them in favor of our own, so in this process the designs are open and any partner is free to fork off their own version that best matches their own vision. A brief summary of our proposal is attached. As part of the FIWARE umbrella your organization seems an ideal fit and we hope you're interested in collaborating. If not we welcome your suggestion of other European partners that might also be an ideal fit. If so we'll send a full draft of the proposal and more information about each partner and other information you request as soon as possible. The blueprint of the solution is fairly large and can be reviewed over the next months before the grant is awarded. The specific involvement of each party can be negotiated before or on the condition of that award. We're flexible to negotiating the specific role of each partner according to capacity, availability, and inclination, and we're also flexible to joining an existing partnership. Please note that this partnership doesn't require that your organization refrain from submitting on its own to the same grant if the call for proposals allows it. We look forward to your immediate feedback as this response must be submitted by mid April, 2016.
