Dear all,
Please read this mail carefully. Sorry because it is a long mail but
includes some important info and also identifies some initial action points.
As you know, this mailing list was created some time ago and some
discussions have taken place either during the confcalls where we are
discussing about organization of the FIWARE Summit or bilateral
discussions but we hadn't officially kick-off the activities of the
FIWARE Accelerator Committee per se and this mail intends to serve this
purpose.
Formally speaking, the FIWARE Accelerator Committee will initially
work in interim mode until it is formally approved by the FIWARE
Foundation Board of Directors at their next face to face meeting that
will take place on Monday May 29th, co-located with our next FIWARE Summit.
Besides this mailing list, the following shared GDrive folder is
available for members of the Committee:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B4G2SvO4TLuLVlpPXzV3ZGVQSDg?usp=sharing
The charter proposed for this Committee is now available as shared
google docs in that folder, but also through this link:
https://docs.google.com/a/fiware.org/document/d/1seaZkJbufwnjYg1R1SpGeGP06UqyfBAQNjf7l0YfWYU/edit?usp=sharing
We shall have a final version of the Charter by end of this week so that
we can send it in advance to the BoD for approval. It may look like we
have activated to late this discussion (and I want to express my
apologies) but on the other hand you will take advantage that its
wording has already been curated in other Committees so there will be
just few things you need to review to really get something final:
* List of interim co-chairs. We have proposed a list of them (one per
ongoing EU-funded FIWARE Accelerator projects and another one from
outside those projects, also member of the FIWARE BoD). Note that
designated people should devote time to organization of meetings and
follow-up of activities defined within the Committee. Therefore, a)
those designated please confirm you are ok or designate some
alternative, b) anyone else who wish to play an active role raise
the hand. Note that these are only interim positions, you should
define a calendar for electing final co-chairs (I would not
recommend more than three)
* Initial topics of discussions. This doesn't need to be an
exhaustive list, just a list of topics to initiate the discussion
(we indeed propose them for discussion in a face to face meeting in
Utrecht)
* List of candidate events. Again doesn't need to be a final list,
but if there are events where you believe we have to play an active
role, don't hesitate to add
While reviewing the charter, don't forget we don't aim to answer all
questions regarding scope of activities in this Charter document.
There will be many things to discuss precisely within the FIWARE
Accelerator Committee meetings. What is key to have at this point is a
general description of the scope of activities, what are the rules for
membership and decisions, who will be the interim co-chairs, and what
are the tools and timing for meetings. For all of these points, there
is already something that would work and is aligned with what has been
decided in other Mission Support Committees.
While reviewing the charter, incorporate changes as suggested edits
(click right button of your mouse, choose 'suggest edits') or comments.
Please bear in mind that the shared document is the master copy, so only
incorporate comments and suggested edits, taking advantage of the
facilities provided by Google docs for that purpose.
We would like to propose a face to face meeting of members of this
FIWARE Accelerator Committee on Monday May 29 in Utrecht. Please fill
the following doodle to setup at starting time:
http://doodle.com/poll/6f9tp7subuab8nz4
In order to discuss a couple of matters I would like to setup a call
this Wednesday at 16:30 CET. I would kindly ask at least co-chairs to
attend. If any of them cannot attend, please suggest alternative timing
on Wednesday or Thursday. I will facilitate a bridge.
We also ask you to review the people who is part of the FIWARE
Accelerator mailing list, which you will find below my signature in this
message. If I have added you by mistake and you don't want to get
involved in the FIWARE Accelerators Committee, please accept my
apologies and send me an email (please, don't spam the mailing list) and
I will immediately drop you from the list. If you miss someone we should
add, please let us know (you can reply to the list to hear any other's
opinion). Members of the BoO of the FIWARE Foundation as well as Angeles
Tejado, Eva Blázquez and Raúl Díaz from the FIWARE Press Office will
also be members of the mailing list.
Once the FIWARE Accelerator Committee is approved, we can anticipate
that regular audios will be scheduled and a bridge facilitated by the
FIWARE Foundation, typically on Mondays or Fridays and on a monthly
basis, since this will help to avoid the risk of collision with trips
(concrete day of the week will be determined during our face2face
meeting in Utrecht).
Last word and quite important: You have to be individual member of
the FIWARE Foundation to participate in the Committee. If you haven't
yet submitted your application, we encourage you to do so as soon as
possible. Otherwise, we will have to remove you from the Committee
(bear in mind that one of the reasons for this is to ensure that members
of the Committee will follow the FIWARE Code of Conduct [1]). For
instructions about how to join, please check [2].
