[Fiware-apps] Wirecloud & SpagoBI

Hi Davide, Alessandro,

I agree with Davide in that Wirecloud could exploit the REST & Javascript
API developed for SpagoBI by offering a catalogue of mashups for SpagoBI
that exploits that API to provide analysis reports as Wirecloud dashboards.
The idea could be to offer as Wirecloud dashboards the same analysis
reports you can now obtain directly from SpagoBI. Nevertheless, if I am not
wrong the current API offers these reports as documents (html, pdf) and it
complicates the scenario. Moreover, charts are provided as non-resizable
images/html and with no accompanying metadata. We would need a more
data-centric API, that could allow us to build the dashboards (i.e. the
mashups) by using our own chart libraries, operators, etc. from the source
data provided by your tool through its API. Then, we could take two
approaches:

a) Provide a specific dashboard for each analysis report/document,
developed specifically for that document
b) Provide a means to automatically build a dashboard for a given analysis
report/document, which would need an agreement on the structure for those
documents.

I am not sure if it would also make sense to offer, as part of the above
mentioned catalogue, widgets and operators that could enable end users to
build their own analysis reports, but it seems that it could require a
great amount of effort and changes into your API... if possible.

These are some initial thoughts, just to start the discussion on this
topic. It would be worth dedicating one or two weekly calls to better
understand your API and how to make it more useful for these purposes
(where needed). I do not know if I will be available to attend these calls,
but Alvaro is the key person.

Best regards,
Javier
