[Fiware-associate-member] Results of election of chair/vice-chairs for the Smart Water Domain Committee

Thank you for your trust and confidence. With Aitor and Davide, it will a good team to get things moving forward on the water domain. It is good that we managed to be the 3 of us on board !

I suspect we will shortly have a meeting where we will set our roadmap. Building upon existing projects, we will go on with the “implementation driven” motto of FIWARE to provide and promote concrete examples of FIWARE implementations answering water related challenges.

You are probably all aware of the importance of water and existing tensions in a context of WW population growth, climate change, pollution impact, etc. One of the UN SDG (SDG6) specifically focuses on “Clean Water and Sanitation”

Among activities in the group, we already identified some topics:

  *   Promoting activities from the past and on-going projects which delivered FIWARE driven solutions for water management. A booklet will probably emerge at some point
  *   Liaisons with external bodies such as ICT4Water Cluster, Water Europe..
  *   Making stronger the Water data models as already available in smartdatamodels.org by supporting Alberto to improve quality of the set and expand it
  *   Identify future needs of the water sector that should be addressed by FIWARE offer (Why not thinking soon about welcoming domain specific enablers ? )
  *   Identify funding opportunities and build some projects

The water domain is quite vast (I like to refer to the water lifecycle diagram of the ICT4WATER cluster<https://ict4water.eu/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/ICT4W-Value-Chain-730x730.jpg>) and is not independent. There are close links with other domains such as the energy domain (water systems both consume and produce energy), agriculture  (which can’t survive without water and is adding pressure on the clean water availability), smart cities & territories, etc.
This is where our cross-domain approach makes sense and can be illustrated.

So do not hesitate to join us in the group (starting with the mailing list<https://lists.fiware.org/listinfo/fiware-smart-water-dc>) and to bring in your own ideas !

Dear all,

  I am pleased to inform you that Franck Le Gall has been elected as chair of the FIWARE Smart Water Domain Committee (SW DC) with the 69.44% votes.  25 persons were eligible to vote in this Chair election and 72% of them submitted votes.  We have decided that the other two candidates will be selected as Vice-chairs of the SW DC under suggestion of the recent elected Chair.  Therefore, governance of the SW DC for the period 2022 is defined as follows:

    Chair: Franck Le Gall
    Vice-chairs (alphabetical order of surname): Aitor Corchero Rodríguez, Davide Sergio Storelli
