Dear FIWARE Community,

The moment has come, we have arrived at the final Marketing Round-up of
2020. Since December 2019 we have run 12 calls and sent 12 Round-ups your
way, meaning we have had 12 opportunities to share our upcoming activities
and the activities of the FIWARE Community with you. We want to thank each
one of you for your enthusiasm and support, your contributions, and
positive mindset in a year that has not been the easiest. We look forward
to returning in 2021, with more content, more events (perhaps in-person
this time, we will have to wait and see), brand new FIWARE Impact Stories
from the Community, more open calls for you to apply to with FIWARE tech,
more Marketing materials, and more exciting visibility and business
opportunities for you to take advantage of.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones
happy and healthy holidays, as well as a great start to the new year. We
look forward to seeing you in 2021!
Great Opportunities for You
Events and Fairs in 2021
We, of course, hope to see the FIWARE Community again in-person in the
upcoming year but should this not be possible then we will continue to come
together virtually. *There are co-exhibition and branding opportunities for
you!* On the agenda for 2021 are *Hannover Messe* (April 12-16), *E-World*
(May), *ITS World Congress in Hamburg* (Oct. 11-15), *SCCON in Berlin*
(Oct. 26-28), *SCEWC in Barcelona* (Nov. 16-18), and the *FIWARE Global
Summit* (stay tuned for the date and location). Of course, you can also
expect a multitude of brand new FIWARE DAYs in the new year, including the
second edition of the *FIWARE Energy DAY* (Jan. 28), *FIWARE Industry DAY*
(Feb. 25), and the *FIWARE Mobility DAY* (March 25). We are currently
looking into additional opportunities for the upcoming year (whether
virtual or in-person events) and will keep you posted on any decisions made
so you can be a part of them. In the meantime, should you have any event
suggestions, opportunities you think FIWARE should be a part of then don't

Become a certified FIWARE Expert in 2021
The last few months saw the successful certification of multiple *FIWARE
Technical Experts*. We would hereby like to congratulate the following new
FIWARE Experts for successfully passing all parts of the examination: *Carmelo
Benitez Barrios*, *Veronica Benitez*, *David N. Campo*, *Hernán Javier
Hegykozi*, *Miguel López Corbacho*, *Mannix Manglani Mankani*, *Milton

Have you made a solid recognized contribution to the FIWARE Community? Do
you have a thorough cross-chapter understanding of all aspects of FIWARE

Marketing Materials for You
Life (in stop motion) in Smart City
In the brand new Smart MaaS <https://smart-maas.eu> stop motion video
featuring the *Smart World by FIWARE*, the infinite possibilities of
‘Powered by FIWARE’ solutions are shown, based on a protagonist living and
working in Smart City. We all know that COVID-19 has made live events that
much more difficult. With this brand new video, people of all ages are able
to enjoy FIWARE’s vision of a modern, smart digital future, from a safe
distance.

The goal of Smart MaaS is to build an open source, standardised mobility
service platform, and reference architecture that allows for the creation
of new innovative mobility services. The Smart MaaS platform uses FIWARE
infrastructures and technologies.

*FIWARE and IUDX collaborate to build an Open Source platform *
Set up by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the *India
Urban Data Exchange* (IUDX) Program starts out with an open data platform
for the 100 cities that are a part of India’s Smart Cities Mission but
plans to expand to cover 500 cities by 2022 and all urban centers in the
country by 2024. FIWARE Foundation is excited to collaborate with IUDX on
an *Open Source platform* that facilitates secure, authenticated, and
managed exchange of data amongst various data sources and consumers. The
collaboration agreement is a major milestone in the globalization of the
standards and technologies developed by the FIWARE ecosystem.

Call to Action & Open Calls
*Are you a European citizen? The TOKEN Project is looking for your opinion!*
Is blockchain the revolution in security and transparency that is needed to
enable e-voting? What is your opinion as a citizen? One of the *TOKEN
Project*'s Pioneer Use Cases focusses on public procurement which solves
the issue of red-tape burden, corruption, data silos, together with
improving trust and transparency in public authorities. As citizens of
Europe, the TOKEN Project would like to ask you a few questions about *the
use of electronic voting* in local and national processes as well as about
the storage of their results with technologies that increase transparency
and ensure that they are not altered (e.g. blockchain). The results of the
questionnaire will be used exclusively for research purposes under the
European Program H2020 TOKEN.

*Your compass to Smart Cities events and trends*
Launched at the end of October, *smartcities.events* is one of the latest
initiatives created in 2020 by FIWARE Foundation and partners, including
the *Future City Foundation*, the FIWARE iHub in the Netherlands. Set to
become the biggest event platform dedicated to open, sustainable and Smart
Cities worldwide, it features the most relevant Smart Cities events and
trends. We, therefore, encourage you once more to create an account and to
submit your events too! The platform offers a year-round calendar and
experience with affiliated promotion services, free of charge. We look
forward to bringing the platform to the next level in the new year so be
sure to join the network as soon as possible.

*Last chance to be featured in the "Smart Cities Top Global Reference
Booklet"*
There is still time to submit your Smart City references! Have you worked
on, developed, or implemented FIWARE Smart City projects? Fill out our *Smart
Cities Survey* and help us to create the top, global Smart Cities reference
catalogue! Entries submitted *by 15 December *will be featured in the *"Smart
Cities Top Global Reference Booklet"*, to be prepared towards the end of

*Open calls to apply to over the festive season*
Since January, we have been able to share *over 50 relevant open calls *with
the FIWARE Community. If you are looking for something to do over the
holiday season then might we suggest checking out some of the existing open
calls that we have lined up for you? How about *REACH*? REACH is a
European-wide second-generation incubator for data-fuelled startups and
SMEs that aims to facilitate the development of trusted and secure
innovative solutions based on industrial and personal data. Is
manufacturing more up your alley? The *European Factory Platform* is
looking for manufacturing companies, digital solution providers, or
software developers to apply for sub-projects related to the development,
prototyping, integration, and validation of innovative solutions using the
EFPF platform.

Hot Off the Press
*FIWARE supports the most liveable city in Europe: Vienna*
In 2019,* Vienna *was named the world's most livable city for the tenth
time in a row according to the Mercer study. Within the framework of the EU
project *Smarter Together*, which promotes intelligent project solutions in
the fields of renovation, energy, mobility, and information and
communication technologies, Vienna has been looking for a data platform for
Smart City requirements and has found it with FIWARE. The platform
*smartdata.wien* was able to process the data generated within the project
very quickly and offer it for monitoring purposes. For the integration of
data streams from IoT devices, Open Data and other data sources in a Data
Lake, the FIWARE-based platform solution will be used in the future,
formerly as a cloud solution and more recently in the data center of the

*How cities can boost growth with Open Source tech*
Members of the FIWARE Community are featured in the latest edition of
the *Business
Reporter Smart Cities Report*. On pages 7 and 9, *EGM*, *HOPU*,* Promálaga*,
and *Uni Systems *showcase how cities can boost growth, deliver more
efficient services, and create more livable environments in which both
citizens and businesses can thrive, with the help of FIWARE Open Source
tech. Cities of the future have the potential to have a big, positive
impact on the lives of citizens, stimulating economic development. However,
there are environmental concerns that should be taken into consideration,
making it quite the balancing act. Want to know how this balance can be

New and Ongoing Initiatives
Elliot Cloud: Helping São Paulo to manage its water resources network
We are wrapping up the FIWARE Impact Stories of 2020 and have already
started the preparations for 2021. That's right, that means we are looking
for more success stories to share. The next one could be yours! Get in
touch with Tonia Sapia <tonia.sapia at fiware.org> to kick-start the process.

Our latest *#FIWAREImpactStory* depicts how *Elliot Cloud* is helping the
city of São Paulo (Brazil) to manage its water resources network. It's no
secret that water management is a priority for our societies. While water
consumption is continuously growing, up to 35% of water is lost due to the
inefficiencies of distribution networks. In addition, more than 1 billion
people suffer from water cuts. Within this context, Sabesp, considered one
of the largest sanitation companies in the world, had to be wise in
selecting an ICT solution that is able to manage their telemetry and
telemonitoring system based on real-time data. It is their goal to combine
the latest trends in IoT in order to better manage water resources. This is
where Elliot Cloud entered the scene.

Introducing: The Hashtag Catalogue
In order to be successful with hashtags, you need to be strategic about
what hashtags you use and when you use them! To make sure we are all on the
same page… or hashtag, we are analyzing existing hashtags and creating a
handy *“Hashtag Catalogue”* with relevant hashtags to use when talking
about FIWARE, FIWARE initiatives, or posting about FIWARE-related topics
and domains. From Smart Cities and Smart Industry to more core FIWARE
hashtags like #FIWARE, #FIWAREImpactStories, #FIWAREiHub(s), and so on,
let’s continue to spread the word about FIWARE and make it easier for
people to follow the topics they are interested in. This helpful guide will
be heading your way in 2021. Stay tuned!
