Hi Juanjo, Question: 1. The format for providing pilot description? -As I’m updating VK description in the table in 1.3 (Cantabria has inserted). Updates for 1.3 section was sent to you yesterday. Whereas the house concept is clear I would like address of also a) rural development paradigm (smart village+situated opportunities) b) city-rural links – perhaps angles for methodology? Finally also specific address of the objective (and impact measurement) being quality of life. Best Ditte. He will be focused on coordinating the edition of Sections 1 (now focused on 1.3) and 2.1. Aberto will be focused in other parts, also helping to bring down to earth the description and the consortium behind each of the Initial Rural Region Pilot. Gianluca and I have been discussing how to structure section 1.3.1 (Concept) to make the sale speech flow in a fluid and comprehensive manner. After careful consideration, we will go for a simplification of the current approach as follows. In a first subsection, we will first elaborate on the impact dimensions which will help to transform rural areas into better places to life (not just for people but for organizations/businesses, life = daily operations here). The picture to be used here will be very similar to the one initially brought by Ditte. It will be this one: [Billede fjernet af afsender.] We like this picture better because the three impact dimensions, named as in the picture above, work well not only for people but also for businesses. In that respect, Society = people + organizations/businesses. Then we will explain that, in order to bring relevant impact in each of these three dimensions, a digital transformation needs to be implemented through a number of Pillars of Action (Action Pillar / Focus Areas) which will be piloted in the project: * Public Services * Businesses of the Primary Sector * Businesses of the New Economy (targeted to sectors other than the Primary sector) * Sustainable and Clean Energy * Tourism The digital transformation en each action pillar will mean that for that pillar, the following "transformations" will be implemented: * #Spaces will be re-visited * #Resources will be re-discovered * #Community will be reinforced * #Services will be re-invented * #Agencies will be revitalized Each of these transformations will be enabled through deployment of digital platforms. Despite we will elaborate on how digital platforms will enable each of these transformations within the section, let me illustrate this with some examples (not exhaustive, we have to work on this): * Spaces will be re-visited because they will be digitally augmented thanks to exploitation of context data which will be made available in right-time to applications. * Resources will be re-discovered because digital platforms will be able to make physical resources visible thanks to sensors deployed in the field. Discovery services will be part of the platforms enabling resources to be discovered. * Services will be re-invented because they will not be only designed top-down. Availability of data following standard data models and APIs will enable that entrepreneurs bring innovative services exploiting available data * Agencies will be re-vitalized as actors supporting the platforms making data available, also collaborating with agencies in other regions adopting platforms based on same standards towards raising funding for entrepreneurs building innovative services * etc Bottom line, we will explain that implementing a number of transformations through deployment of digital platforms in a selected number of Areas of Action, we will achieve the KPIs in the thre impact dimensions (economic, societal, environmental) that will characterize rural development of rural areas. This means that we will not longer have a 5x5x5 cube. We would indeed have a 5x5x3 structure but that is fine. Eventually, we may come with a different picture, we are considering to bring a "house of lean<https://www.google.com/search?q=house+of+lean>" kind of picture. Like the following: [cid:image003.png at 01D623AA.7BFF26E0] where: * The roof matches the triangle of impact dimensions: Economic, Social, Environmental * Each of the pillars match each of the Action Pillars defined * Digital Platforms will be providing the Foundation through which the mentioned transformations can be achieved Following this first subsection where we describe the overall concept, we will bring a sections structured into subsections, each one elaborating on the description of what we intend for one of the Action Pillars. For each of these subsections, we will follow this script: 1. Description of current challenges, pain points 2. Description of how each of the transformations materializes concretely for the action pillar: e.g., when dealing with the Action Pillar linked to "Public Services" ... what it means that "spaces will be re-visited" or "Resources re-discovered", etc. 3. Some example scenarios (linked to some of the Initial Rural Regions) We will take the text in the section that currently describes the Focus Areas (term to be replaced by Action Pillar) as basis but will try to adapt to the script above. Regarding point 2, we shall try to cover a description of how each of the transformations materialize in each of the action pillars, but perhaps we cannot be exhaustive. We'll see as we go. For all the above, it is crucial that representatives of each of the Initial Rural Regions provide the description of their pilots. Please try to bring this now.
