Dear Manuel,

To me the ge to use are idas, cep and rss in a first place.

For what concerns bar codes idas cannot get them directly,  as far as I
know.
In engineering for various specific sensors we created ad hoc connectors to
idas. The user could/should take any bar  code reader of the many they
exist in the various oss libraries and connect it to idas.

My two cents in the absence of architect answers ... ;)
