Dear Miguel,

Dont' worry I didn't want to reopen a debate concerning the adoption of JIRA instead of old trackers, I perfectly agree that this is the right choice.
I was just trying to remap on the new tool the usual actions performed with the past tools, and wanted to check what are the options we have (or don't have) available.

I don't see big issues managing the GEri trackers, while my question was mainly devoted to managing the chapter tracker, where I assumed to have all chapter members registered.  In this latter case, there can be tickets concerning general chapter activities (e.g. contributions to chapter and/or general documentation) which might be assigned to people who might differ from the GEri owners.

I'll identify the best options to properly address this in a different way, taking into account your suggestions.

Life is never easy :)

We started with FusionForge (all we could quickly have at the beginning, 3 years ago). We shared the repeated complaints of the partners and finally tried to set up something more modern. I assume that this is not under discussion and that we are not reopening the debate of adopting JIRA as is a fait accompli after all this time.

JIRA sells licenses per user. We bought a first chunk of licenses and some months after (in cooperation with XiFi) a  number of extra licenses (XiFi also has JIRA users) . I am not checking the actual numbers but I vaguely recall that it was around 400 additional users. Once you involve a user in a ticket, you cannot easily delete him from the tracker - bottom-line: users are not reusable. I am not sure how many we've used already. 100? 200? Manuel may know, I do not have the number.

When depleted, we will have to buy more.  Last time I saw it was something like 16.000 eur for the next level of number of users, I do not remember either but a lot of money... ouch.

The initial approach was that each GEri owner would have a single user. They can share it internally or whatever. It should be enough, for your internal coordination you send tickets mostly to GEris, not to individuals.

Dear Partners,

For those who couldn't attend this morning session about JIRA, let me inform you that trackers are available for all Chapters and Working Groups. Find a snapshot below for visual identification.

By the end of next week ALL Chapters will have to have some issues created. I understand it's an easy target for some leaders, but it may be somehow difficult for others. I'm available for you all but especially for those who didn't create issues previously.  Please, contact me.

Please, be aware that trackers' content will be used to justify our effort consumption in front of the EC, and that cost claims may be rejected based on this concept by the EC. Therefore, I think it's on all of us interest to do it properly.

Please, provide me with the users you want to have in JIRA. Please, be aware we need to have as less as possible while being functional. For development chapters it means leader, architect and GEI owners but not developers (sorry). I miss GEI owners for some chapters, please, provide their names.

For non-development chapters, I have no specific criteria, and I expect the leaders to provide their names. I already have some as for Academy (Davide) (Thanks!) - I expect this week to have input from all others.
Additionally, when it comes to non-development chapters I haven't created much component because I don't have criteria, I'd need to chat with the leader to give tracker additional structure.
