Dear all, Let me bring to the discussions on the collaboration with CEF people pointed out by Juanjo some additional elements that are more or less related. You may know that we have tried to push forward collaboration with data-related initiatives at the EC: for example Europeana and the European Open Data Portal. Last Wednesday I had a call with the EC (Peter, Ragnar and Arian) to update them on the process. Let me include here a summary of the discussion that reflects the current status as well as actions agreed (this is the summary I sent to them). Please Miguel, include this as part of the discussion of today's call when Juanjo brings the topic of including the eDelivery component as GE. Please, check the point on EUROPEANA, where there is a specific action for FIWARE FIWARE-CEF Background: * FIWARE has provided instructions to CEF people on how to use the FIWARE cloud infrastructure for the eDelivery component (action A1) * FIWARE has provided an answer to CEF on the Fast-track procedure: basically this is still under analysis for compliance with FIWARE rules (action A2) Action (TO DO) * EC to call for a more strategic discussion on the suitability of "breaking the FIWARE rules" to accelerate the potential inclusion of the CEF eDelivery component into the catalogue of GE --> I think the discussion today will help on this Note: Bear in mind that Incubated GE are also part of the FIWARE catalogue FIWARE-OPEN DATA PORTAL Since we did not get an answer so far: Action (TO DO) * EC to check if the contact person is the suitable one to take these decisions and push forward the process (so far communications have been exchanged with Daniele.Rizzi at ec.europa.eu<mailto:Daniele.Rizzi at ec.europa.eu>) FIWARE-EUROPEANA Action (TO DO) * Nuria to inform the FIWARE consortium about the outcomes of today's meeting and promote a technical activity to check the technical feasibility of using EUROPEANA assets in the FIWARE framework, since Europeana already provides APIs (so no need to discuss its usage with them) --> take this e-mail as reference to get aware of the situation. The EC wants to set up a task force in FIWARE that checks from a very practical point of view the feasibility of using Europeana resources through their APIs. Timeline should be defined for this Note: for your background, the contact person so far has been Gudrun.Stock at ec.europa.eu<mailto:Gudrun.Stock at ec.europa.eu> All communications to the other EC colleagues included Erika.MAGONARA at ec.europa.eu<mailto:Erika.MAGONARA at ec.europa.eu> in CC. Best regards, Nuria _____________________________________________ From: De Lama Sanchez, Nuria Sent: Wednesday, June 03, 2015 2:32 PM To: Peter.Fatelnig at ec.europa.eu<mailto:Peter.Fatelnig at ec.europa.eu>; Arian.ZWEGERS at ec.europa.eu<mailto:Arian.ZWEGERS at ec.europa.eu>; Ragnar.Bergstrom at ec.europa.eu<mailto:Ragnar.Bergstrom at ec.europa.eu> Subject: Summary collaboration FIWARE-Data-related initiatives Importance: High Dear colleagues, Since we are starting later, let me take advantage and share the summary I had prepared for the call (in red the current status) FIWARE-CEF Short-term A. Hosting of CEF eDelivery testing environments on the FIWARE cloud as described in the attached presentation. * Next steps: * FIWARE to identify the practical next steps that need to be taken by CEF eDelivery to experiment with FIWARE's cloud (please send me this information) * Status: not completed, but we agreed that Juanjo will send them an e-mail so that they can request a Community User Account and FIWARE will make sure that the required Infrastructure will be set up. * FIWARE to consider adding CEF eDelivery to its catalogue of Generic Enablers - possible need of a fast-track procedure by FIWARE's governance * Status: we are still thinking about that, but basically the decision is that this will be transferred to the body that currently plays the role of Technical committee until the Open Source Foundation is formally launched (and includes architects and WP leaders). They will decide if creating this Fast-Track procedure is compatible with the process we are discussing Some options that seem less probable or at least not for the short term and that are on their side (no news about the status of this) B. Promotion of FIWARE's Context Information Management Generic Enabler within CEF Digital * Next steps: * Although this Generic Enabler is unlikely to qualify as a separate/ new DSI, the CEF Project and Architecture Office will discuss its use by the CEF eID DSI (and possibly others). As you were informed during the meeting, the eID DSI is looking for an attribute management component that meets its requirements. Status: unknown (we will ask for this) C. Integration of the eID DSI in existing e-services/systems/ enablers of FIWARE * Next steps: * The CEF Project and Architecture Office will ask the CEF eID DSI to contact FIWARE and organise a Conference Call about this. Status: unknown (we will ask for this) D. Possible collaboration between the eSENS Large Scale Pilot and FIWARE * Next steps: * Serge Novaretti to 'introduce' FIWARE to eSENS Status: unknown (we will ask for this) FIWARE-OPEN DATA PORTAL Potential collaboration lines: (1) enrich the "data offering" of FIWARE through the provision of access to their data sets (this would mean for them a wider base of users since we could promote the use of these data sets immediately through the FIWARE Accelerator Programme) --> this seems easy if the ODP is based on CKAN (2) analyze the way ODP could enrich its functionalities in the future for example through exposing context information (near-real time data using NGSI, as described by Juanjo) Status: waiting for a reaction from EC FIWARE-EUROPEANA Potential collaboration lines: (1) enrich the "data offering" of FIWARE through the provision of access to their data sets (this would mean for them a wider base of users since we could promote the use of these data sets immediately through the FIWARE Accelerator Programme) --> this seems easy if the ODP is based on CKAN (2) analyze the way ODP could enrich its functionalities in the future for example through exposing context information (near-real time data using NGSI, as described by Juanjo) Status: waiting for a reaction from EC Actions carried out: * Virtual meeting with responsible people for both Euroepana and Open Data Portal (6th May) * FIWARE has distributed information and defined a team for each of the initiatives * Reminders/communications sent to the EC colleagues (including relevant FIWARE people) on May 19, May 27 and June 2 * In the case of Europeana and based on Silvia's suggestion we have anticipated the willingness to organize a face-to-face meeting as the most reliable way to progress (May 3) See you in 1 minute. << OLE Object: Picture (Device Independent Bitmap) >> [cid:image002.gif at 01CF0C63.C844A030] Nuria de Lama Research & Innovation ICT Program Manager Vice-Secretary General Big Data Value Association M +34 680645692 T +34 91214 9321 F +34 91754 3252 nuria.delama at atos.net<mailto:nuria.delama at atos.net> Albarracín 25 28037 Madrid Spain www.atosresearch.eu<http://www.atosresearch.eu/> es.atos.net << OLE Object: Picture (Device Independent Bitmap) >> [cid:image003.gif at 01CF0C63.C844A030] IMPORTANT - MAIL ADDRESS CHANGE - From now on, please use only mail address nuria.delama at atos.net<mailto:nuria.delama at atos.net> The former @atosresearch.eu address will be cancelled soon This e-mail and the documents attached are confidential and intended solely for the addressee; it may also be privileged.
