[Fiware-coaches] FIWARE evaluation process - Guidance needed

Hi Ilknur,

For sure some of us, like coach, are involved directly in the evaluation process at least for the questions related to FIWARE. I had to evaluate 285 proposals (3 technical questions) and of course it is really time consuming (we have to read some additional documents like architecture, word document, etc…) so it would be better to be at least 2 per accelerator to evaluate the proposal.

I have used the questions defined for coaches to do the evaluation as fair as possible:

1.No enablers used > disqualified


2.One enabler used > acceptable but this must be strongly documented

2.1 The GE must be tightly integrated with the solution of the company, i.e should implement a new functionality which is clearly value add for the company business. If not, i.e. the functionality is there just to take money from FIWARE, the proposal is disqualified

2.2 In addition, justification of why adding this GE rather than 3^rd party solutions should be provided


3.Several GEIs used > acceptable and recommended

3.1 the proposal shall provide a draft architecture of the proposed solution showing clearly interactions between the various GEIs and eventually third party or owned software.

3.2 Use of several disconnected enablers is possible. Then each should be justified as for case 2 above

3.3 Preferred solution is the use of several integrated enablers.


4. Application hosted by the FIWARE Cloud -> acceptable and recommended

4.1 SMEs should make use of this cloud, meaning that they host their application in the cloud while at the same time using a number of GEs which are hosted in the cloud too (or are deployed somewhere locally, e.g. in the case of IoT/Sensors/Gateways).

4.2 The only deployment of the application in the FIWARE Cloud is disqualified

Dear all,

I have received a further inquiry from the accelerator project which asked about the Evaluation process previously. They have now closed the call for proposals. However, they are in doubt on how to carry out the evaluation process in compliance with with FIWARE.

They referred to this excepts from the Basecamp:

“Also as mentioned by Peter, the score assigned to the FIWARE criteria for each of projects selected by external reviewers should be approved by FIWARE, no matter if the evaluation involved evaluator trained by FIWARE.  The first contact point to get this "approval" would be your assigned coach as Peter has explained.   We will coordinate this so that FIWARE experts may get involved in this process besides the FIWARE coach.”

And they are asking how this should be understood. Any pointers?
