I Frank, I went through your message very quickly and I saw the doubt about accessing Basecamp. It is enough if someone that is already member of the system invites you. I already did it for you and you should get a message… Best regards, Nuria From: fiware-coaches-bounces at lists.fi-ware.org [mailto:fiware-coaches-bounces at lists.fi-ware.org] On Behalf Of Franck Le Gall Sent: Friday, February 06, 2015 9:06 AM To: stefano de panfilis Cc: fiware-coaches at lists.fi-ware.org Subject: Re: [Fiware-coaches] FIWARE coach how-to Hi I just made yesterday a 2 hours session of coaching with the FICHE accelerator, meeting a new selected SME every 15 min and I have to admit that we are going to face really diversified situations. I was expecting rather technical questions during these 2 hours but this has not been the case at all. I discovered that several of these SMEs did not really knew what enablers they would use and the situation is much less evident (the more basic question I got being: “Why should I use enablers” …) that what they were claiming in their proposal. So from what I experienced up to now, I see these different profiles of support needed: #1 Accelerator interface: answering questions of accelerators consortium partners about FIWARE core & use case project activities, upcoming events, etc. #2 Real coaching activity: helping SMEs to select the most appropriate enablers for their use case and define with them a timeline for integration. Being even pro-active in suggesting new functionalities they could achieve with their enabler. Explain IPR related to GEs and SEs. Monitoring their progresses #3 Technical support a. on enablers: detailed questions on enablers functionalities, installation and use, etc. b. on fiware lab: creating instances, associating IP & ports, managing resources, etc. c. on enablers integration: issues related to integration of several enablers, etc. In the case of FICHE (which has a 3 phases funnel process), I am rather in case #2. In FI-C3 (money is allocated in one phase), SMEs are deeply analysing enablers to safeguard their contract and I am in #3 there. Being in frontline as you push is not a big issue but I see several difficulties we have to tackle: * Many of the questions will not come by e.mail but by face 2 face, skype, phone, etc. and thus will not be registered into Jira. Looking at the questions typologies, I am even not sure on how we could track them in fruitful way. * Question arriving by e.mail and being registered in Jira will likely contain several, interlocked questions. How to build knowledge basis out of this ? * Accelerators are in charge of taking care of their SMEs and provisioned resources in their proposal for that support activity. We should take care that FIWARE coaches do not become an easy way for accelerators partners to reduce their effective activity on that topic. * Coaches have to be informed/aware of everything (technical and non-technical) happening in FIWARE. Probably we should subscribe to all mailing lists but is this enough ? I even don’t know how to connect on Basecamp so some guidance may be required on these aspects. I have difficulties as well to capture what is happening on fiware lab side. I see some possible item that would help: * Creating public FAQ for phase 3 SMEs, built and expanded from the questions we get. I have not seen this (the only FAQ we have is the generic one<https://forge.fiware.org/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fiware/index.php/FIWARE_Frequently_Asked_Questions_%28FAQ%29>) * Publishing some typical patterns of GEs use. From technical point of view, use cases are not so different one from other and we may likely define 4 or 5 categories of use cases with a pattern of few GEs being use to fill the need I modified the How-to along these lines. Comments are welcome. I thus made a quick how-to to help accelerators and SMEs to find information, also reminding them about the e.mail address to be used, as stressed by stefano. The document is attached. Could you give it a look and provide me with your views on it ? Are you taking similar approaches ?
