You will soon be able to pre-book your parking slot for that Friday evening movie. Seamless digital payments will open the smart parking gate automatically for you. You will be able to charge your EV while shopping at the mall. Residential buildings or schools may soon be able to earn extra by opening up their parking capacity during lean hours — it will be like an Airbnb for car parking.

India, with poor parking infrastructure, will likely leapfrog to a new age with digital-era parking systems. Parking lots will turn into hubs for EV charging, waiting bases for Ola-Uber drivers and pickup zones for self-drive companies like Revv, Bounce, and Zoomcar. Governments will impose challans on Robo-taxis and ride-hailing cabs for logging dead miles on the roads. This will make parking slots resting hubs for cars.
