Dear Martin, Thanks for approaching us. FIWARE provides a curated framework of open source components which can be integrated together and with third party components to build "Powered by FIWARE" platforms which make development of smart solutions faster, easier and cheaper. "Powered by FIWARE" platforms can be used in multiple sectors and, yes, one of the sectors where adoption of FIWARE technologies have experience a higher growth is Smart Cities. The FIWARE Foundation does not commercialize FIWARE per se (we are a non-profit organization). The FIWARE Foundation was created to protect the FIWARE brand and give support to the FIWARE Community of its members and the FIWARE ecosystem at large, including contributors to FIWARE as well as companies commercializing platform/solutions powered by FIWARE and end users of those platform/solutions. Some companies commercializing platforms powered by FIWARE deployed in cities can bee found in the FIWARE Marketplace <http://marketplace.fiware.org/pages/platforms>. That list is not exhaustive, we know there are some other companies which have built Smart City platforms powered by FIWARE which are not yet listed there. Some of them disclose in their entries information about some cities where the platform has already been deployed but not all. Our last internal survey revealed that 50+ cities in Europe are already using FIWARE and many other are planning to do so. As you may know, the FIWARE Context Broker, core component of FIWARE, has been selected by the European Commission as Building Block within the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program <https://ec.europa.eu/cefdigital/wiki/display/CEFDIGITAL/Context+Broker>. This means it is a technology that the EC recommends Public Administrations (and also companies in the private sector) to adopt when building Digital Service Infrastructures bringing support to Digital Services which can be replicated across EU member states. That is the case of Smart City platforms, for example. You may find some success stories using FIWARE documented on the CEF website <https://ec.europa.eu/cefdigital/wiki/display/CEFDIGITAL/Success+Stories#context-broker>. I'm pretty sure many of the "Powered by FIWARE" platform providers in our Community would be interested in exploring opportunities in the City of Sofia. We can facilitate the contact. Perhaps before doing so we can set up a web call where you can explain more about your plans and we can elaborate on current developments regarding FIWARE for Smart Cities? Please feel free to suggest some dates next or the following week. In the meantime, you can check this brief note with a summary of major highlights about FIWARE for Smart Cities <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wYxqcnVbC3gliw_Js_41qdV3BVDgHyCJdr04OOvwb7c/edit?usp=sharing>.
