[Fiware-comms] [Fiware-pcc] Updates on ECFI2_Concept, programme and budget (URGENT FEEDBACK FROM FI-WARE NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hi Nuria, all,

I think that each WPL/WPA has to discuss this point to come with a proposal for very short and precise demos and also an idea of which partners could manage it in Munich. We know very well that the same partners are always doing communication but in this case we need also some GEis owners who could do some marketing and provide a larger vision that the use of their own GEi, at least provide a vision for the technical chapter or for a subset of GEs of a technical chapter (I have in mind WP6 with many GEs so not sure it is easy for a developer to cover everything)

We had in Brussels some 3rd parties and industrials who were interested in targeted technical subjects so from my point of view it is better to have “several” small demos focusing on technical demo of a subset of GEs.

This point will be discuss tomorrow during the IoT weekly meeting.

Thanks for your answer Thierry and thanks to Philipp for his comments.

CEBIT is clearly one of the major targets for 2015 and some info has been circulated already in the DWG about that.

However, those events that are targeting “real potential customers” are compatible with the other ones. And I think there is no choice for us. Since it is a FI PPP event, FI-WARE has to be present and contribute, not only in terms of contents, but also financially (something stated by the EC too). There is no other way.
The problem I see is that no one in the project reacts early enough for us to have good visibility. I try for FI-WARE to be present everywhere but then, I cannot always propose sessions myself, a booth, demo whatever without the commitment of having people and resources to prepare it.
For this specific case FI-WARE appears in one of the speeches, since Juanjo was invited for that purpose. But it we are going t pay for it, the idea would be at least to maximize the opportunities for us and be more active. In this case I only said that FI-WARE would go for a booth, but could not provide specific elements since I know that there will be Campus Party just before ECFI2 and I do not want to commit to something I cannot guarantee.

Let me clarify that the idea is that this event is more industrial, targeting around 500 people max (not sure if this is feasible, but it will be the ambition) and will also involve SMEs as an opportunity for accelerators to communicate their calls.

This is what has been proposed to the Steering Board today:

The event would be organized in three parts: Core conference day 1

Networking session/dinner day 1 (evening), and

Techno Brunch in BMW day 2

The project contributions are towards the fixed costs. The networking session is expected to be self-financing and the Techno Brunch has some fixed costs (but sponsorship from BMW is being sought).

And based on the three financial scenarios suggested, most projects are in favor of this one:

500 paying participants, total budget: €231k, participant registration fee as below,
FI-PPP project contributions: phase-2 projects (6x €10k), phase-3 accelerator projects (16x €2k), and CONCORD (€47k)

1. Participation fee for conference on day 1 (not incl. VAT): 96 €
2. Participation fee for networking session/dinner on day 1 (not incl. VAT): 127 €
3. Participation fee for Techno Brunch (not incl. VAT): 53 €

Numbers will be worked out a bit more, but the scenario has such has just been approved by the FI PPP SB.

I hope it helps. Nuria

Hi Nuria,

I have transferred your email to the IoT team pushing for a light demo showing IoT GEs. I am in favor of light demos, not a complete one as we used for reviews, more something demonstrating that we have something running well in the different technical chapters.

I also answer your email to launch the discussion between FI-WARE partners because we missed the point from your first alert.

Dear all,

I have sent this e-mail already two times.

I really need feedback from FI-WARE. In fact, the agenda was circulated to the SB of the FI PPP as it was because there was no answer from us to increase our visibility.

It is important that you provide your views on this, since FI-WARE will have to face another big payment to contribute to the organization of ECFI2. Furthermore it is expected that we have a stand, but they mentioned explicitly that they expect demos and more active participation from the colleagues, since it was clear that in the last edition we failed to send technical people to show “GE in practice”. Still I think it was useful and some good connections were established, besides the fact that the EC and all the attendees got a good impression of us. This I very important to convince people, to get credibility in the community.
I agree that if we look at potential commercial customers, this is not our community, but we cannot forget that the immediate responsibility of FI-WARE and the follow up projects is based on supporting SMEs and accelerators.

Check the attachments I sent in my previous e-mails and please, read the e-mail below (already forwarded) and come back with answers to the important points.

One essential thing for me is knowing which resources we can count on for demos and stand, taking into consideration that the previous week there will be the Campus party.

There is a Steering Board tomorrow and a DWG teleconference in few days. No position from FI-WARE?

Thanks in advance, Nuria

Dear colleagues from PCC
CC: Comms

Following my previous e-mail let me update you on some discussions happening in the Organizing committee of ECFI2, the FI PPP event that will be organized in September 2014 in Munich.
I am part of this OC in order to represent FI-WARE in the discussions and help in the organization; today I had my first long teleconference with them and I can already share some information with you.

Let me attach:

· Concept of the event

· Current version of the programme

· Budget (please, keep it confidential)
All this was defined before I joined the OC. Now, I have “voice” in the group, and I would like to circulate some questions for which I would like to get a commonly agreed position:

· Are we in favor of having a fee? This will probably be defined depending on the typology of organization or may be related to the attendance to different parts to ensure that this is not a barrier for SMEs. IMHO there should be a not-too-high fee to ensure that we avoid the no-shows, as it happened in ECFI1

· As in ECFI1, FI-WARE is expected to contribute financially to the event. As you can see in the budget, the expected figure is 15.000 euro approx.

· Check the current agenda. In the discussion today we talked about the possibility of including a slot devoted to FI-WARE and FI-LAB (FI-OPS?) before the Phase 3 session. The programme is so compressed that it is difficult to figure out how to accommodate more contents, but of course it is important that FI-WARE increases its visibility. Think on how to link this with winners of the next Campus Party and practical examples on how to successfully use FI-LAB.

· It is also expected that FI-WARE sets up a booth, as in ECFI1, but we should focus on running demos

Please, send your comments and suggestions as soon as possible to me and not later than next week. I will inform the OC and will speed up the integration of our ideas into the process.

Best regards,
