Dear Giovanni,

The first diagram you are referring to is the overall architecture diagram for the FIWARE Generic enablers. It is actually more like a grouping of Generic Enablers (GEs) to show which chapters they belong to (as the work is organized into different chapters in the core FIWARE platform project).

The exact relationships between GEs would depend on the exact user applications which would use them, so different architectures may emerge based on different combinations of GEs used.

Also the architecture diagrams for the individual chapters may give you a better understanding, i.e. see the links from the same page on wiki (https://forge.fiware.org/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fiware/index.php/FIWARE_Architecture) to Apps chapter, Data chapter, etc..

Does this answer your question? Or do you need more specific info we should relay to the FIWARE team?

Kind regards,

ilknur

Subject: [Fiware-fiadopt-coaching] Diagramming conventions for the FI-Ware application architecture

In the articles on the general FI-Ware architecture and on the architecture of specific applicative platforms, I found simple architectural diagrams grouping components by functional area and connecting them with directed links; these seem to represent some kind of dependency and/or of customer-provider relationship.
However, I didn't find a reference to a description of the diagramming formalism that was used; could somebody direct me to some related documentation?
Thank you in advance,

Giovanni (FI-Adopt FAIRVILLAGE sub-project)
