My2cents, Indeed sounds interesting. Obviously this should be interesting. FIWARE is open source and open to anybody interesting using or evolving it, including Google. FIWARE is by nature non-competitive as you can seamlessly integrate within any company offerings. E.g. IBM can use it along their own components (case of Porto). FIWARE eliminate lock-in and competition at platform level, creativity is better invested in services and applications. It's just more efficient to use existing assets. In a city environment FIWARE democratise the platform level by opening up the data and functions to many users. FIWARE build local and regional innovation ecosystem… If Google wants a '101' meeting, glad to host it. I have checked the website and their approach is oriented to an integrated platform with focus on urban solutions. Hence, I wouldn't say it can be compared to FIWARE. Nonetheless, it would be quite interesting to find out which cities they're working with (I couldn't find it). This might bring side collaborations with communities we couldn't reach in an other way, as well as strengthening technical cooperation with US service providers. Have you had any discussions with them. As you probably know they are a Google company. They seem to be building something like FIWARE and I explored the possibility of joining forces rather than competing. Is this of interest at your end? I will be happy to carry this forward if you support the discussions. I responded that we would consult with you and then come back to them. I would appreciate your feedback.
