Dear partners, We have closed a draft of the new amendment 5 of the DoW. The draft, together with a spreadsheet that summarizes the new distribution of effort-budget-funding can be downloaded from FusionForge (you will be required to be logged in): * DoW: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/view.php/27/2678/FI-WARE-DoW-Amendment5-v5%28version_date-13-07-01%29DRAFT.docx * Effort-budget: https://forge.fi-ware.eu/docman/view.php/27/2679/FI-WARE+effort-budget-funding+-+Amendment+5+v5+DRAFT.xlsx Most of you are already aware of them but here it goes high-level summary of the major changes: * A new WP (WP13) has been created associated to a new chapter in the FI-WARE Architecture dealing with development of GEis that will cover the topic on "Advanced Web-based User Interface" that was part of the 2nd Open Call. We have also moved the activities dealing with advanced middleware (one of the topics of the 1st Open Call) from the current WP6 (Data/Context Management) to this new WP. ZHAW (Christof Marti) will play the role of leader of this WP, under overall coordination by Telefonica, and DFKI (Philipp Slusallek) will play the role of WP architect, under overall technical coordination by the Chief Architect. This has been negotiated with the new beneficiaries selected as a result of the 2nd Open Call and you probably followed the discussion we had on the matter on the mailing lists. * A new task dealing with development of GEis that will cover the topic on "Stream-oriented GEs" that was part of the 2nd Open Call has been added to WP6 (Data/Context Management). In this case, we believed that it was not necessary to create a new WP. WP6 was selected because there are other stream-media oriented GEs being developed there already. You may also remember that this was discussed over the email. * Modifications have been incorporated in the Communication, Collaboration and Dissemination WP to integrate all the activities to be performed by the new beneficiaries selected as a result of the 3rd FI-WARE Open Call. Essentially, it brings contents from the proposal that got selected as a result of the 3rd Open Call. It is worth pointing out that we, in agreement with the EC, decided to post-pone inclusion of Startup Weekend partner because they have to run through recognition as Non-profit Organization in the UK and we didn't want it to cause a delay of amendment 5. They will get incorporated through a new amendment 6. * A new task thas been added to the Exploitation and Standardization WP dealing with evolution of the campusero platform to incorporate the elements needed to serve as platform that will support the community of stakeholders we aim to create around FI-WARE technologies (creation of such platform was one of the goals setup in the 3rd Open Call). This task will be carried out by Futura Networks. * The funding that was not allocated in the 1st and 2nd Open Call will be used in collaboration activities targeted to achieve connection of several smart cities across Europe to the FI-WARE OIL in order to enrich the environment. This funding is temporarily assigned to TID as coordinators, pending of how such connection will be carried out and who will take care of it (that will be fixed in next amendment). * The funding that was not allocated in the 3rd Open Call will be used for rewards to winners of the several challenges/contest for developers to be launch. This is currently assigned again to TID as coordinator under "other" kind of activities (dissemination) but we are awaiting for the EC to explain us how payment of prizes (i.e., payment of a prize to a SME/startup or even an invididual) can be implemented (I discussed this with Peter Fatelrning while Arian Zwegers was on holidays and I understood that this may be implemented under the formula of subgranting, but we don't know the details about how this gets implemented and if there is some special wording/clauses we have to specify within the section on subcontracting and/or Resources to be committed in the DoW. * We have modified the 4th bullet item in section B.3.2.5.3 to deal with the legal issue raised by SAP. We believe that the proposed wording keeps the original spirit and even is better (because more clear) so nothing actually changes while we are able to address SAP's concerns. * Declaration of a number of Third parties has been incorporated. If you have any comment, please let us know ASAP, before Thursday noon. We would like to have this amendment approved earlier than mid next week.
