[Fiware-general-help] I have a question about FIWARE's AGPL 3.0 license.

No.  As stated by every FIWARE GE that has opted for the AGPL 3.0
license, software that merely use FIWARE GEs (or derivate versions of
them) do not need to be released as open source:

/Please note that software derived as a result of modifying the
source code of the software in order to fix a bug or incorporate
enhancements IS considered a derivative work of the product.
Software that merely uses or aggregates (i.e. links to) an otherwise
unmodified version of existing software IS NOT considered a
    derivative work./

   And as stated here
<https://fiware-requirements.readthedocs.io/en/latest/GE_Requirements/#licensing-and-ipr-management>
in connection to the above paragraph, the following statement is made:

/The legal opinion paragraph above is aimed at giving users
confidence they can use FIWARE components even if they have been
licensed under a copyleft license without this requiring that their
applications have to be released as open source. /

I understand that the IoT platform or front-end components connected
to the smart city platform do not modify the code of the FIWARE GE
licensed under AGPL 3.0, just simply use it.  Therefore, they are not
affected.

What AGPL establishes, though, is that the modifications you may have
incorporated in the code of FIWARE GEs under AGPL 3.0 need to be made
publicly available.  But only the code of FIWARE GEs that were modified,
not the code of other components using the FIWARE GE (like the IoT
platform or front-end referred above). It would be nice that such
modifications are not only published but published as contribution to
the Community open source projects that maintain those GEs, so that the
Community at large can benefit from those modifications if they are
considered relevant.

   Cheers,
