Canada has officially joined Horizon Europe, the EU's €95 billion research program, as of November 2023, making it the latest non-European country to do so. This association includes only Pillar II of Horizon Europe, focusing on industrial, social, and environmental challenges. 

 

Canadian researchers can now participate in single-application, joint-funding projects with European partners, and coordinate these projects. This move strengthens geopolitical alliances amid the Ukraine invasion and signals a new chapter in EU-Canada relations.
