Dear members of the FIWARE Foundation, The FIWARE Foundation was recently approached by authorities of the Al Madinah region/city (Saudi Arabia) who have plans for issuing a RFP for a Smart City platform. They approached us to learn more about the FIWARE technology, also understanding we were the neutral platform vendor organization behind the technology. After several interactions, they seem to be convinced that FIWARE standards are the way to go and it seems they plan to incorporate a set of requirements towards selection of a FIWARE-based or FIWARE-compatible platforms in their RFP, which they plan to publish very soon (apparently next week). They plan to invite companies to their RFP and have asked us which companies they may send the invitation to with enough expertise as a provider of a smart city platform powered by FIWARE. We don't know to what extent there will be a close list of companies the authorities will invite to this RFP or the RFP will be open to any company but they want to make sure it is received at least by companies which have enough expertise can propose a smart city platform based on FIWARE. In addition, the authorities of Al Madinah are also looking for companies with expertise in FIWARE who may work providing advice / consultancy services to the Smart City project office. Of course, this would mean that such a company would not be able to apply for the RFP. Should any of the two above roles (bidder to the RFP or consultancy service provider) be of interest to you, please contact us and provide a mean for contacting we may forward to Al Madinah region authorities. Note please that we have been asked to provide names of potential interested companies and mean for contacting but the final decision whom they will invite is up to the Al Madinah authorities. Unfortunately, Al Medinah region have asked us for a list of names by Monday this coming week. Therefore, a quick response would be greatly appreciated.
