Dear iHubs committee members,

one great news to share with you about FIWARE usage in our region:
Faubourg Numérique is part of the SCIFI project that has just been approved
to be funded (60%) by the Interreg 2 Seas <http://www.interreg2seas.eu/en>
programme.

SCIFI = "Smart Cities Innovation Framework Implementation" (see the SCIFI
project poster
<https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7pzt1H6oSuBd3N2bDlaTzVDYV9WUGZhNWUzdlBtVmZTams0/view?usp=sharing>
)

The project is based on OASC principles <http://www.oascities.org/faq/>,
implementing open innovation 2.0
<https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/policies/open-innovation>
acceleration framework in 5 mid-sized cities (including rural areas):
Mechelen (B), Brugge (B), Delft (NL), Cambridge (UK) and Saint-Quentin (F)

As member of ENoLL <http://www.openlivinglabs.eu/> and initiator of OASC
France <http://oasc.fr/> network, Faubourg played an active role in the
project definition to introduce open innovation 2.0 and OASC approach in
the work packages. And of course, we proposed to use FIWARE as
technological basis to implement the pilot projects. This is clearly stated
in the "overall objective" section of the presentation of the project on
Interreg 2 seas web site:
http://www.interreg2seas.eu/en/smart-cities-innovation-framework-implementation

Now our next challenge is to find complementary - public/private - fundings
to upgrade our team and leverage the SCIFI project as an opportunity to
progress on our - not so long? - way to join the starry FIWARE iHubs ;)

We would be very happy to get advices / experiences / references from the
other incubating FIWARE iHubs about the implementation of this kind of
initiative, including the way to engage private fundings and to communicate
in an appropriate manner about the use of FIWARE (as open source technology
for the SCIFI pilot projects).

Cheerio!
