Spaces*

The use of data has become essential for decision-making and the automation
of processes across both the public and private sectors. Never more than
before, data sharing is becoming increasingly important and offers numerous
benefits. Whereas the practice is gradually growing over time,
organisations often face significant barriers that prevent them from
benefiting from data sharing.

The lack of universal agreements for identity and access management, data
publication, exchange and trading means that organisations are forced to
draw up tailor-made data sharing agreements time and time again. This makes
each data connection or integration a time-consuming and costly effort,
often leading organisations to abandon their data sharing attempts
altogether.

*That’s about to change. Together with BDVA, Gaia-X, and IDSA, we have
founded the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA), a new collaboration that
will drive the adoption of data spaces across Europe and beyond.*

the official launch of the Alliance on September 23, 2021, in Munich,
Germany.


Having over 1,000 members combined, the Alliance’s founding organizations
represent leading key industry players, associations, research
organizations, innovators, and policy-makers from local, national, European
level, and beyond.

The Alliance will take a proactive approach to ensure that data spaces
become a reality and will work together across three major areas:

   1. *Technology and architecture: *The Alliance defines a common
   reference model, based on existing architectures and models, leveraging
   each other's efforts on infrastructure and implementations.
   2. *Support: *The Alliance assists the existing organisations and data
   spaces by pooling their tools, resources and expertise in a focused way.
   3. *Identification and characterisation: *The Alliance establishes a
   ‘Data Spaces Radar’ to actively scout potential data spaces.
