Dear all, A first feedback of this 1st day review. The head of Unit “Net Innovation” Jesus Villasante was there, and this is unsual of course, and stayed the full day (from 9:00AM to 8:00 PM) a very long day but he introduced the day like a strategic review more than a technical review. The objective is to identify where we have to put resources to assume that FIWARE will be a success. For some of you who are not aware of that, 3 lines have been introduced in the introduction of the work programme H2020 for 2016-2017 to push new projects to use FIWARE platform in their future proposals. We went in the morning through the sustainability part and how we expect to launch an Open Source Community and an associated “Foundation”. I was the presenter for this part and we had long discussion (2 hours) on this topic but nothing really critical. The main point is that EC wants that we launch the Foundation ASAP and I have understood from Jesus 2 points: EC is ready to put money to support the Foundation and to establish the association, and we should have an opportunity in the call of December to submit a proposal to continue to support FIWARE Foundation (to be checked in the text of the next call normally available soon in September) So 2 actions for all of you: · If not already done, please check the governance rules we propose (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BpL7WqD9F61kYbd7vRb7i07Oi6t-Bzpyfo0-y-1YauY/edit#heading=h.hl0yjed7wrmb ) to comment them · Please initiate also internal discussion in your company/university to define how you could join the community We had a long discussion in the afternoon (2 hours too) on FIWARE Lab and the difficulties we had between February and early July but no nasty question at the end, more questions how some nodes could survive without funding and could support trial and community users accounts. Despite it was a strategic review, our PO Arian has wanted to go through GEs presentation and for some of them he had really precise questions so we think that the list of what they want to stop, from funding point of view, is already define and we should have low influence on it. So I have to give an IoT presentation and thanks to your work in Heildeberg, it was really easy to do it from a chapter point of view. So I avoid to go in details GE per GE and everybody knows that we are fully align with the use of NGSI. So I was not really challenged, except from a formal point of view from Lutz Schubert, one of the reviewer: why actuation and why semantics? So it was easy to answer that we are not there just to collect data, that we have already a first light step implemented with IoT Agent and for Semantics that we have to provide interoperability beween things of different sectors. The small (good) surprise for the PO was that we will stop Protocol Adapter to use IoT Agent everywhere. Another question was about the Open Call and FIWARE natively NGSI gateways because he has forgotten this point but when I explain that I do not want to spend more than 50k€ per gateway and that we want 3 different ones he was OK and maybe we should not need an Open Call to manage that. I have to go now for the 2nd day (more GEs to present). For the next sprint meetings, Manuel is on vacation but we have to do the closing and opening meeting correctly (closing and creating the tickets). NEC and Surrey: do not forget a presentation of IoT Broker and IoT Discovery for Euroepan Pioneers and their SMEs. The Welcome Day is planned on the 10th of August so it comes very soon.
