What you need is already implemented in package python-glanceclient which is installed in many ways, including: pip install python-glanceclient These tool has a good help (glance help) Anyway, I'd suggest uploading the image using: gance image-create --owner <tenant-id> --is-public false .... or letting the user itself creating the image.
