Well --- You need to prepare your VM to create an snapshot. We do it the easy way, but we shouldn't do it like that. You need to take care of files your App need to boot. I mean if Mongodb is used, you should stop MongoDB before creating the snapshot or the image will contain the mongo lock file. I you use Mysql, it'd be better to stop mysql or the socket file will be there in the image and MySQL may refuse to start... But those tips depends on your applications. Hope it helps.
