Hi David,
Your question is far too general to be answered in one e-mail. You need to know what FI-WARE offers (you have the main pointers in previous messages) and this is part of your personal work. If I was you I would go to the catalogue and see what Generic Enablers you can use using the pointers to different resources that you get there.
What you finally use depends largely on the concrete scenario you want to deal with. Each GE offers a set of functional features so you'll have to go through the GEs on the catalogue and see which ones you can use.
The idea is that you can use the GEs invoking their services via APIs (documented on the wiki) and that you have FI-LAB (http://lab.fi-ware.org/) to do whatever experiments you want.
