Dear Giovanni and Pieter,
please, in the future, keep in CC the list fiware-lab-help at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:fiware-lab-help at lists.fi-ware.org> : this is essential to properly handle your help request through our trouble ticketing system.
About public Floating IPs, as said previously, most of the regions provide the public Floating IPs to the users only on request.
You have to send a request only to fiware-lab-help at lists.fi-ware.org<mailto:fiware-lab-help at lists.fi-ware.org> to get a public IP, specifying:

- which region you are using

- your tenant (Project) ID. You can find it selecting your project name and looking at the info bar at the bottom of the page, something like <project-name> (ID 00000000000000000000000000000xyz).
I have known today that the Gent node has no available public IPs at the moment, and also the Spain region is temporarily out of the resources. So, please, choose one of the other regions.
About the message "Image Ubuntu12.04-server-x86_64 does not allow Software Management with SDC", it's not an error. This message occurs because you are using the basic images for the instance creation. You have to use the Blueprint instances to take advantage of Software Management with SDC.

Best regards
Marco

Hi Marco,

regarding our project ID,
our creatiFi project started out as 'VISUALIZATION AND PERSONALIZATION OF EXISTING RECIPES' (and now has the working title 'eatz.io')

our fiware lab account is https://account.lab.fiware.org/organizations/foodpairing

after the webinar with Andrea Maestrini (amaestrini at create-net.org<mailto:amaestrini at create-net.org>) we were under the impression that everything would be straightforward,
but seems there are still some issues left which prevent us to do the setup and go forward with development

could you give us some pointers on how to get a basic instance running that has a public IP? (everything we tried results in errors)

best regards,

Giovanni Carnel

Hi Marco,

I'm still getting this error:

  * Image Ubuntu12.04-server-x86_64 does not allow Software Management with SDC.

Each time I try to invoke a new instance

( Region = Gent, organization = https://account.lab.fiware.org/organizations/foodpairing )

Best regards,

Pieter

Dear Pieter,
the problem related to the instance creation in Gent node has been solved. Please, try again.
Let us know if you need to get a Floating IP in that region: in this case you have to provide us your project ID.

Best regards
Marco

Dear Pieter,
could you kindly confirm that the region you are using is Gent and provide your tenant (Project) ID?
I saw that your instance is in "Error" status and, as a result, this could raise an error in the Floating IP association.
I tried to create some instance in Gent and I got always the same problem: the VM is launched but it goes in error status. So this seems the main issue.
Furthermore, in order to allocate a public IP you have to set "public-ext-net" as pool, but most of the regions provide the public Floating IPs to the users only on request.
Please, provide me the information requested above, so I will be able to forward your request to the proper support team.

Best regards
Marco

Hey,

I'm trying to set up an instance, but I get an error after I try to allocate an ip to it.
Any suggestions?

Regards,

Pieter Willaert
