Hi, FI-CONTENT has its open call right now (http://mediafi.org/open-call/, deadline in early January) and below is a really existing topic that would greatly be appreciated by the project (Exporter from Unity to XML3D). Maybe someone from Oulu would be interested? Of course, you can apply to others as well but this one seems particularly interesting. Feel free to contact me about details and hints for a possible proposal. For web deployment, Unity requires a Web Player plugin install (except the Qihoo 360 browser which has it pre-installed for ~173m active users in China). Previously, Unity folks worked on a general HTML5/WebGL target, but I think they don't see it in their business model yet and fell off the release schedule? In the meantime, folks have written web, etc. build targets for Unity. http://www.frost.io/html5#editor http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/121983-WEBGL-Unity3D-Exporter http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/179720-Export-HTML5-content-from-Unity-editor I think it'd be hugely valuable for adoption though to have a Xml3d target from Unity with interop for other FI GEs, where Unity scripts can run as js (compatibility issues to address), assets/animations are targeted to Xml3D, etc. outside of their web player as above. Possibly, a large effort (Phase 3/H2020?), but less costly than trying to recreate the authoring community, etc. I reckon. UDK have also looked at targeting HMTL5/WebGL, http://www.unrealengine.com/html5_faq/ also, but not a useable platform target yet.
