Please inform us (NEC people) if there is any issue about these files. M?rz 2015 15:01 *To:* fiware at lists.fi-ware.org *Cc:* PABLO RODRIGUEZ ARCHILLA *Subject:* [Fiware] Monitoring FIWARE Lab GE global instances Dear colleagues: As you are possibly aware, we have been asking for the configuration files for Nagios to monitor global instances of each GE referred from the catalogue. Given that configuration files of Nagios monitoring tool include sensible data, we have decided to use this PPP-restricted repository for them: https://forge.fiware.org/scmrepos/svn/fi-ware-review/admin/Nagios/ >From now on, please use your credentials to upload to the forge the modifications/additions to such files. This way you can include your GEs to the monitoring of global instances. If you do not have access to this one, please ask your chapter leader to add you to the project "PPP Restricted" on the forge. If you do not have a forge user, please check out [3] and [4] Some remarks: -Please use descriptive/meaningful comments in your commits: oAdditions: ?Add ? blah blah ? ?? oModifications: ?Fix|Update ? blah blah ? ?? -Take existing configuration files as template for your contributions: otrunk/nagios.lab/etc/nagios/conf.d/fiware-catalogue/hosts.cfg specifies the hosts where the GEs are running otrunk/nagios.lab/etc/nagios/conf.d/fiware-catalogue/services.cfg specifies the services offered by those GEs that should be checked otrunk/nagios.lab/etc/nagios/conf.d/fiware-catalogue/contact_groups.cfg specifies the groups of individual members (trunk/nagios.lab/etc/nagios/conf.d/fiware-catalogue/contacts.cfg ) that should be notified by email in case of problems. -As stated if previous emails, please pay special attention to the ?check_command? at every service definition [1]: here you can use any of the standard Nagios Probes (see [2]). We usually issue HTTP requests to a given URL by using the ?check_http? probe, but only when no authentication is needed (this would require including the credentials explicitly in the configuration file). As an alternative, a simple TCP connection may be tested by using the ?check_tcp? probe. These are only examples: feel free to include any other check you consider relevant. Once configuration files are uploaded, please notify fiware-monitoring at lists.fi-ware.org so that changes can be verified and applied to the Nagios configuration. Future communications on the matter will be sent to the GE owners. Please check the the list that we use is correct and the the email addresses are the right ones: * https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqLSWp0KXaaDdEZUc1RzdlNjTm1DWWZWelBKeDQwd1E Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question. At the moment we avoid using credentials/auth headers when checking services. We know this narrows our choices, but handling with authentication introduces several problems. So we could: - Either just checking TCP/80 (command = check_tcp!80) - Or check HTTP but expecting the a 401 status code (command = check_http!--port=80 --onredirect=follow --url=/s2w/ --expect=401) Both are equivalent (in any case we check the ?real? service), so maybe first choice is the simplest and better.
