Dear Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) community,

I am thrilled to announce that *Mayor Roy Buol of the City of Dubuque, 
Iowa*, will join the Mayors keynote panel at the upcoming 2017 GCTC Expo 
<https://pages.nist.gov/GCTC/event/gctc-expo-2017/>. The panel will host 
the mayors at *10-11am on August 28^th *, moderated by *Judy Reinke*, 
Career Minister, U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service at US Department of 
Commerce.

We continue to add key speakers. We are honored to confirm the following

The list of 2017 action clusters is growing rapidly, with over 85 teams 
representing 110 communities confirmed to join the Expo so far. The full

We also announce two more partner workshops by US-Ignite and FIWARE at 
the Expo.

*US-Ignite Partner Workshop (August 28, 1-2pm): Pathways to At-Scale 
Smart City/IoT Deployments*

To date, the GCTC initiative has spurred Smart City/IoT partnerships in 
nearly 100 communities and has helped project participants plan, 
implement and pilot innovative projects.  A next step is the evolution 
of the GCTC initiative is to support efforts to bring scale to Smart 
City/IoT deployments.  US Ignite will present an overview of US Ignite’s 
efforts to support at-scale Smart City deployments and will lead a 
roundtable discussion regarding the topic. The workshop will be 
moderated by *Nick Maynard*, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, 
US-Ignite, and *Bill Maguire*, Program Manager/Consultant, US-Ignite.**

*FIWARE Partner Workshop (August 29, 2-3pm): Creation of opportunities 
of cooperation between the North-American cities and SMEs*

The objective of the FIWARE workshop is the creation of opportunities of 
cooperation between the North-American cities and SMEs currently working 
on FIWARE-based solutions. With this workshop, we aim to create an open 
debate addressing the needs of the cities, and their short-term 
activities on one hand. On the other, we aim to give the chance to the 
SMEs to interact directly with the cities and try to find a common 
ground to start working together. Speakers will include *Jorge Alfonso 
Kurano*, Project Manager, FIWARE/ Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, 
*Wilf Pinfold*, CEO, Urban Systems, and *Lanfranco Marasso*, Smart City 
Program Director, Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A.

Last but not least, we are happy to continue to recognize the cities and 
communities that will be represented by the action clusters at the Expo.
