Dear all, See below FYI. We have also posted a blog on the FIWARE web site with a full report of the Expo; it is available at https://www.fiware.org/2017/09/06/fiware-at-gctc-expo-2017/. Here is the summary. * Over 1600 registered attendees * 190+ speakers and more than 90 exhibiting action clusters representing 120+ cities and communities * 6 Mayors from the US and Japan, 2 Deputy Mayors from Taiwan, and 3 Deputy Assistant Secretaries from the US federal government delivered keynote speeches. * Partnership between DHS S&T (Science and Technology Directorate) and NIST on the 2018 GCTC-Smart and Secure Cities and Communities Challenge (SC3) was officially announced. * 5 SuperClusters delivered keynote sessions and 8 partner organizations hosted workshops. * Executives from industry stakeholders and prominent university researchers delivered impressive talks. Huge thanks to all attendees and all members of GCTC community (you!) and congratulations to all GCTC teams on making a great progress. I am also seeing a lot of press coverage of the Expo, SuperClusters, and the 2018 GCTC-SC3 announcement. We have a few follow-up announcements. * All 5 SuperClusters published their initial version of *_smart city blueprint/playbooks_* designed to help communities jumpstart their journey to smart cities. They can be downloaded *here <https://pages.nist.gov/GCTC/super-clusters/>* for free. * At the Expo, the Utility SuperCluster announced that *Ed Davalos*, current chair, stepped down and joined Public Safety SuperCluster. *Kreg Christoff, *VP of Utilities at Motorola Solutions will be the new chair of the Utility SuperCluster. I would like to thank Ed for his contribution with all my heart. It is a loss for the Utility SuperCluster, but is a huge gain for the Public Safety SuperCluster. I also think the Utility SuperCluster will prosper even further under Kreg’s leadership. * *_Presentation materials_*from the Expo can be downloaded *here <https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8nL0SuAAnfXMVdjYUJmQ3RmZlk?usp=sharing>*. Note that all plenary and keynote presentations are all included, but not all action cluster presenters shared their materials. We will now shift gears to the 2018 GCTC-SC3. We are planning a kickoff/team building conference in Nov/Dec 2018. I will share more details once available. As announced, we will add heavy emphasis of cybersecurity and privacy to the 2018 round. If you are a cybersecurity/privacy expert and interested in working with smart city/community/Internet of Things projects, it will be a fascinating opportunity. Stay tuned! P.S. Feel free to forward this message to anyone who might be interested in learning more about 2018 GCTC-SC3.
