[Fiware-ngsi] NO XML support in NGSI, only JSON

I believe that both XML and JSON should be supported. That is common practice, BTW, in many Internet APIs nowadays.

Having said this, it was XML what we agreed should be supported in the 1st Release.

BTW and as already announced, Telefonica I+D is about to deliver an alternative reference implementation of the Pub/Sub Context Broker by end of this month. It may not be as mature and stable but should cover most (if not all) the features we planned for the 1st Release in the Technical Roadmap. We believe that this was positive to prove that multiple implementations of the spec were feasible and could interoperate. It will also help to test that different parties trying to implement the same FI-WARE Open Specification arrive to the same interpretation. Last but not least, it could work as backup solution. We believe that all this was relevant for an API (NGSI) that is so prominent in the overall FI-WARE architecture.

  Cheers,

-- Juanjo

Dear Boris, Juanjo, all,

The page you are referring to is the page describing the agreed NGSI-10 binding. It is not the a page describing your implementation.

As XML was the agreed format, the IoT Broker (and as a result the Thing Management GE) will only support the XML binding as specified in the NGSI binding. We may at a later point decide to also support a JSON binding, but definitely not in the September/October timeframe.

So please keep the NGSI specification page as it is - such a change cannot be made last minute due to a not-communicated implementation decision by one partner.

Best regards,

Martin

Subject: [Fiware-ngsi] NO XML support in NGSI, only JSON

Dear Juanjo and IoT NGSI team,

sorry for the late update, the TI's implementation of NGSI in Pub/Sub GE will support only JSON in its first release (September/October) and not XML as stated "
Representation Format
The NGSI 10 API supports only XML as data serialization format.
" in the https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/fiware/index.php/FI-WARE_NGSI-10_Open_RESTful_API_Specification_%28PRELIMINARY%29 page.

Sorry for delay with pointing this out. We will be really unable to provide XML communication in this phase.

May you please change it in the above mentioned specification page?

Thank you.

Best Regards,
Boris
