Subject: [ISG CIM]: We need to invite ETSI members to attend kick-off meeting .... they will need to sign Member Agreement ... can you comment on this approach?
Importance: High

Dear all, I got an error message from the fiware-oasc mailing list, so I resend now two emails in one. IF you know someone is missing on the TO: then please let me know.

(1) a list of emails and who is already on the ETSI official mailing list

(2) a request to you to confirm a liaison letter to go out to various orgs as soon as possible, particularly oneM2M
and TMF and SmartMWM ... otherwise key people will not sign the Agreement on time I fear.

(1) a list of emails and who is already on the ETSI official mailing list (shown in green)

Lindsay will ask all these names below be added, unless some of you object (e.g. not your main job ...)?

(2) a request to you to confirm a liaison letter to go out to various orgs as soon as possible, particularly oneM2M

Dear all,

only organisations which have signed the Agreement (as Member or Participant) are allowed to attend the kick-off meeting. Therefore to ensure we get a number of key people from oneM2M and SmartM2M and TMF (to mention a few!) we need to invite them personally AND remind them that they need to go through the hard work (!) of getting signatures.

My suggestion is to send this week a general friendly letter for the Chairs of the organisations we really want attending, and each of us forwards it to the _individuals_ which we think may help by attending, encouraging them most strongly to get their organisations to sign!

Is this agreeable to everyone? Any suggestions for improving the text below?

DRAFT GENERAL LETTER TO ORGANISATIONS

Dear XXX, Chair of YYY

this week the ETSI Director General notified all members, and made a press release inviting non-ETSI members, to join a new Industry Specification Group on Context Information Management. The main aim of the new group is to obtain interoperability of systems which exchange additional meta-data related to "raw" data from IoT systems or open databases or user applications. Details are available in the ToR and in the FAQ available at XXXX.

I am writing to you as convenor of the kick-off meeting to be held on 09-10 February at ETSI Headquarters in Sophia Antipolis to encourage your organisation to send appropriate delegates to the meeting, to facilitate exchange of information from day one, encourage interoperability of systems, and of course avoid duplication of efforts!

The rules of ETSI allow any legal entity (or individual) to attend, but ONLY if they have signed an ISG agreement. Therefore it is crucial for those interested to attend that their company/organisation signs the Agreement attached, for ETSI Members or for non-ETSI Participants. Please emphasize to your colleagues that typically obtaining legal approvals within businesses can be time consuming, even if the organisation is already an ETSI member, and there is no way to obtain entry without signing.

The founding members of the ISG CIM hope very much that your organisation will be able to send delegate(s) and in any case we look forward to setting up an official liaison process.

best wishes,
Lindsay Frost
