[Fiware-opencall-help] FIWARE-LAB-OPEN-CALL-2015: Clarification on Backbone Requirements

I am afraid that the requisites of the call are transparent in that respect and the same for all the proposers. The requisite of 1Gb is in principle mandatory.

i am writing on behalf of Neuropublic S.A. a Greek based company running
an active node in FIWARE Lab (PiraeusN). Our node has been a part of
Fiware Lab (XIFi not FICORE) since April 2014 and has achieved a very
good performance level (very stable node) and a Gold Level Node on
Recognition & Reward program.

In the process of studying FIWARE-LAB-OPEN-CALL-2015 we noticed that
there is a requirement for the Fiware Lab nodes to have a backbone
connection of 1Gb capacity without specific requirements as to how this
connection might be implemented.

The cost of getting such a line provision for about 15 months will be a
serious reduction from the money that could be used to purchase
additional hardware and secure more resources for our users.

To this point and since we already are in Fiware Lab  and we already
have implemented a solution based on L3VPN (connecting to Red IRIS in
Spain) with lower speeds (currently about 100Mbit) which up to now have
proved more than adequate (it is actually underutilized) we were
wondering if it will be possible to use the same solution in our
proposal for FIWARE-LAB-OPEN-CALL-2015. Moreover if there is a need for
extra capacity we are fully prepared to upgrade  to 200-300Mbit still
using the L3VPN solution though.

We have discussed the L3VPN solution with RedIRIS and the guaranteed us
that they will continue supporting the connection through FICORE since
they are in the project.

Since the closing date of the open call is approaching i would like to
have a reply as soon as possible.
