Hello Stefano!

The information was really helpful - thank you very much.

I now reviewed the FAQ that are available on wikipedia, so I would like to
ask something additional regarding the budget costs:

 - regarding the equipment costs - if we buy new hardware/software what
costs should we put in our budget - the whole amount of the equipment or
only the depreciation for the project duration? This is very important and
the guideline doesn't contain exact information regarding this issue.

 - if we estimate to have costs for services like internet connectivity,
electricity etc. - are they eligible and in which section should we put
them - Equipment, Other or something else?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Best regards,

SUPPORT- questions

dear tania,

first of all thank you for your interest in fiware.
answers in line.

Hello!

I have the following two questions regarding the application form for the
open call for FIWARE Lab nodes support:

1)"To this extent, applicants have to demonstrate credentials, capability
and commitment to offer commercial FIWARE cloud services (i.e., a
commercial cloud environment where compliant FIWARE GE products as well as
FIWARE-based applications can be hosted) in parallel to the operation of
FIWARE Lab nodes." - this text is from the Objectives of the call - part
of the call text. Could you give me more detailed description what does it
mean for the applicants -
should the applicants provide commercial FIWARE services outside of the
range/in parallel to the setup and deployment of a new node center and if
yes - under what conditions? Are there any requirements for the
infrastructure they should commit to this activity and are there any
regulations regarding the commercial relations between the applicant and
the potential client of the cloud services?

for fiware it is extremely important the sustainability of the whole
initiative. to this extent if there are no plans from those who operate
the fiware infrastructres (i.e. the various fiware lab nodes) well beyond
the limit of an fp7 project than for us there is no interest in having
them on board.
so this why this critical requirement, i.e. if the proposers believe in
fiware it is clear that they have plans to make it profitable, so the
proposal is the place where to tell about this plans that shoudl show
their concreteness and credibility.
there are no specific requirements on the hw/sw infrastructure to serve
the commercial part, but of course it should be in line with commercial
plan.

2) Application template Part B - Section 3 - "a commitment for long term
operations after the end of the FI-Core project" - what is it meant under
long term operations after the end of the FI-Core project - could you give
me a few practical examples so that I can orientate easily? In addition -
what happens with the node center after the end of the project (the 14
months period) - do we have further engagement to the FIWARE Lab nodes
community to support it with any services and under what conditions?

as you migth know the fiware open source community is about to be fully in
place. it will be this community that will decide in a common and
autonosmouly way what to do after the 14 months period (31 dec 2016). by
the way, we are creating this community exactly becouse we want fiware to
have long life and we believe this is possible.
we cannot provide examples for obvious reasons.

hope this helps, but happy to provide further clarifications if you need
so.

ciao,
stefano

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
