Dear PCC members,

As you probably know, last week INFINITY held a meeting in Brussels to get to know the needs coming from use cases and other projects of the FI PPP with respect to validation, testing and experimentation. I was in Brussels attending the Third usage Area workshop organized by the EX-FI project and I took advantage to attend the INFINITY meeting too. However I could not access the e-mail the night before and did not have the opportunity to get the FIWARE presentation. Fortunately Pepe attended the meeting remotely and made the presentation (I attach the final version).

I suppose people from INFINITY will circulate some notes and conclusions (I already asked Federico for this information and will distribute it as soon as I get it; Pepe, if you receive it earlier than me do not hesitate to share it with all of us). In any case, find below some basic information so that you can get an overview of what was discussed there:

When:

June 29th, 14:00 - 17:00

Where:

European Regional Information Society Association
24 Boulevard de l'Empereur
1000 Brussels (Belgium)

Agenda:

1. Introductions - from INFINITY and the projects attending, possibly one slide each. (20 mins)

2. FI-PPP / INFINITY Interaction Process (including info on the Concertation Board) - INFINITY will present how it sees the interaction between itself and the projects. We would encourage feedback from the projects here to ensure that the communication channels are clear and open from the outset. (40 mins)

3. Requirements Gathering from the FI-PPP projects

1. Each project presents their expectations on what INFINITY will provide (30 mins - 1 or 2 slides per project)

2. INFINITY presents their current questionnaire that will be used for gathering data from each test infrastructure (30 mins)

3. Open discussion based on input from projects and INFINITY with a goal of refining/extending the INFINITY questionnaire so that the requirements/expectations of the projects are met (1 hour)

Discussion:

· The main role of INFINITY (CSA on Capacity Building) is to find and catalog facilities that can be useful for the purpose of validation of Future Internet technologies being they related to use cases or basic technology (like the ones of the core platform). This work will be especially useful in phase 2 and phase 3 of the PPP.

· INFINITY presented the objectives of the project as well as a mock up of the repository. The idea is that owners or responsible people of the facilities fill in the fields of the questionnaires to feed the database. This will not be done by INFINITY, but of course, a process of validation will be encouraged.

· All use cases were requested to provide information on their requirements for validation and testing purposes. First of all this is needed in order to define the right fields to characterize testing facilities, and second, this will be needed to help use cases as much as possible in this respect and filter capacities accordingly à therefore, the main part of the meeting was devoted to the presentations of the different use cases, CONCORD and FIWARE

· Meetings and interaction will be a must in this process to be coordinated à one person from INFINITY will give support to each use case project (like that, there will always be someone ready to reply quickly to questions and doubts); there will be another physical meeting after summer. Several options have been discussed even if the decision will be taken later on and informed to all the projects (one possibility could be during the FIA week in Poznan, but this is not clear yet because there already too many things going on there)

· At the end of the meeting there was a discussion on initiatives, projects and programmes that could be of interest, such as the ENoLL and some others (this will be further tackled in future discussions)

· One curious conclusion from the meeting is that, besides technical requirements as such, there were some ideas about requirements at legal, regulatory or privacy level that were raised by some projects. For example, SAFECITY asked for support by INIFNITY to analyze the regulatory situation of different countries in Europe in those aspects that are needed by the projects for large scale trials.

As pointed out in the beginning of the e-mail check the presentation of FIWARE to see the initial requirements transmitted by FIWARE to INFINITY. Of course the process is open and this should be updated continuously. Having the first draft of the High Level Description will probably help on this too.

Best regards, NURIA
