It will be held on 31st of May and 1st of June 2012. After the two very successful editions in 2009 and 2010 organised by SnT, it is a great pleasure to jointly carry out the 3rd European Summit on the Future Internet. The programme as it is being conceived will represent a unique opportunity to understand the future ahead and confront your views with those of a carefully selected panel of extraordinary speakers. This 3rd European Summit on the Future Internet will provide top speakers and influencers as well as interesting and current topics according to the main theme of the whole event - towards Future Internet international collaboration. In thinking of key speakers for this high-level international event 31.5-1.6.2012, Mr. Joao Schwarz da Silva, Mr. Latif Ladid and Mr. Pauli Kuosmanen highlighted your multi-level experience and activities as someone we especially would like to contribute to the success of the Summit. We would like to ask if you would be able to join us as a speaker in the Future Internet Architecture session? We would be honoured if you would be able to accept our invitation to contribute, and to join us in this very important effort. The 3rd European Summit on the Future Internet Session 2: Future Internet Architectures Chairman: Pauli Kuosmanen, CTO, TIVIT 14.00 Open Future Internet Architecture Jose Jimenez, Strategic Director, Telefonica I+D 14.15 Cloud Security Janne J?rvinen, Focus Area Director, F-Secure 14.30 Metadata and the architecture Christophe Diot, Chief Scientist, Technicolor 14.45 Energy Conscious Networks Gee Rittenhouse, Vice President Bell Labs Research, Alcatel-Lucent 15.00 Internet of Things Ma Jian, Vice-Chair of China IoT Expert Committee 15.15 The architecture at the core of the Future Internet Robert Pepper, VP, Global Technology Policy, Cisco 15.30 Coffee SUMMARY OF THE SUMMIT The Summit will gather approximately 200 leading business developers, academia and research institute representatives as well as high-level policy-makers from Europe, Asia and Finland. The first two Summits in 2009 and 2010 were successfully organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SNT) of the University of Luxembourg. The key focus has been on European actions and trends in Future Internet. Now, TIVIT and SNT have jointly decided to broaden the scope and actively strengthen the international dimension of the Future Internet on the 2012 agenda. The 3rd European Summit on the Future Internet focuses on some of the most relevant topics to boost international collaboration. What is the business aspect of Future Internet? Where are the Internet markets now and in the near future? What is the future of Internet and its many applications? How to combine the interests of platform developers, apps and service providers and future customers? Which of the applications, such as cloud computing, future media, and e-commerce, the customers are most willing to adapt? Which applications will generate new business opportunities? How Internet can be utilised in solving grand challenges, like environmental change, health care and aging, and transportation? Customers are expecting next generation solutions with easy, proactive and simple interfaces. Business is expecting more financial manoeuvre for increasing R&D&I activities towards the customer needs. Europe, the US and Asia all have their own ICT objectives. Could future services and products be more intensively developed and tested in cooperation? International collaboration in Internet-based solutions is still at an early stage. TIVIT and SNT jointly organise a high-class international event in Espoo. It will be held on 31st of May and 1st of June 2012. This 3rd European Summit on the Future Internet will gather top influencers as well as interesting and current topics according to the main theme of the whole event - towards Future Internet international collaboration. We would be honoured if you would be able to accept our invitation. We would like to receive your reply in December 2011. We are looking forward to hearing your reply. Thank you very much. They would indeed mean that partners are focused on a more concrete number of WPs and tasks and I believe this always leads to a more effective usage of resources. A key enabler of these movements is that NSN-Germany has announced that they will leave the IoT WP so, therefore, part of their PMs could be used to fix some of the conflicts that were blocking a decision. I want to thank Thierry, as leader of the IoT WP, for allowing me to make this proposal taking part of these PMs. The movements I propose to apply and the resulting balance are the following: * Movements: * 20 PMs of Orange-FT would be moved from Cloud to IoT * 25 PMs of TID would be moved from Security to Cloud to cover the gap from the previous movement by Orange, the remaining 15PMs in Security are left there * 25 PMs of Thales would be moved from IoT to Security to cover the gap by TID in Security * 15 PMs originally assigned to NSN-Germany would be transferred to TID to reinforce our involvement in IoT chapter * Resulting balance: * Security: same PMs as before, with stronger presence of Thales. 15PMs pending of allocation and contributions from TID pending to be reformulated (we believe they can be just dropped) * Cloud: +5PMs * IoT: -25 PMs from Thales + 20 PMs from Orange-FT= -5 PMs compared with what had before, plus 15 PMs pending of reallocation from NSN-Germany Please let us know whether you would object to these changes before mid next week. If not, we would prepare an amendment of the DoW reflecting them. With a bit of luck, those changes may enter the current amendment under negotiation (although we won't delay closing the current one under negotiation, it might be the case that this change fits in) Best regards, -- Juanjo ________________________________ Este mensaje se dirige exclusivamente a su destinatario. I would like to attract your attention to the fact that by the end of this month all companies should have filled in the forms prepared by WP11 (GE business descriptions). This information is crucial to identify the dependencies between GE for the purpose of integration and therefore use of the project results. We have already seen that some partners have to devote a lot of integration resources to use components of other partners released under FRAND conditions. This is difficult to justify from an exploitation point of view both internally (in our companies) but also towards potential customers of FI-WARE. As a result, I encourage all of you to enter your information in the wiki (being explicit on IPR issues, dependencies and problems at regulatory and legal levels) as early as possible, and by no means later than end of the month. Conclusions will be presented to the PCC as a decision-support tool. All the instructions can be seen below (mail sent by my colleague Juan Bare?o, leader of WP11). I also remind you that the first version of the Exploitation deliverable should be ready in M12 (and you can imagine that the EC will make lots of questions about this). It would be very useful if you could show some applicability examples https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/exploitation/index.php/Main_Page After the Generic Enabler tables you can find a section for every partner who is participating in this chapter. In this section every partner should explain their plans with regard to this chapter exploitation. Please check the instructions below and complete each GE template and your exploitation plans before end of this month Thanks for your collaboration and for any doubt not hesitate to contact us Br Juan How to fill in the wiki? Every G.E. has a specific table in the Exploitation wiki media as can be seen below: * Description and added value: In this cell we have added simple information about the G.E., please feel free to change the description and to add information, the objective is to provide the reader with a clear and simple vision about the G.E. Added value: In this subsection we want to answer the following questions: * What is the main advantage you are promising your customer through this result/solution? * What kind of beneficial impact will your solutions have on the target customers business? * What are the main problems, needs and expectations perceived by the customers? Mainly, we have obtained this information of the section Critical product attributes, probably you could extend it and identify more problems. It would be really useful if you could provide some examples of applicability of the solutions. * Main Competitors Please identify the main competitors of the G.E, if any. You should indicate the name of the competitor and the competitor's product. Some companies are named, please feel free to delete the companies you think are not correct and add new ones. * Target Market We should answer the question: What FI-WARE roles are going to use the G.E. ? Some examples: FI-WARE GE Provider FI-WARE Instance Provider FI-WARE Application/Service Provider * Market Potential The information for this section has been obtained from: * The Tracker: we have filtered the column "FI-WARE Generic Enablers " and we have obtained the user cases that have applied information about the G.E. * The TestBed section: "Testbed_Fact_Finding_Investigation" * Sectors: What sectors are most likely to use the G.E. ? We have tried to answer these questions but your review is required. * Potential business models What commercialization methods are more commonly used with this kind of G.E. or what kind of commercialization methods are you thinking of using? For example: * Fixed term yearly * Fixed term monthly * Subscription plus pay per use * Pay per use only(hourly) * Pay per use only(monthly) * Delivery Description G.E. delivery: how is the G.E. going to be available for use, e.g.: * Web page * As a service * An API * Time to market We have used the information available on the "Testbed_Fact_Finding_Investigation" testbed version 1 (M15) testbed version 2 (M27) testbed version 3 (M36) You need to check this information. * IPR situation The information for this section has been extracted from the Materializing the FI-WARE Vision. Further information should be provided here, especially if you are planning to use this G.E. together with other FIWARE G.E. with incompatible license. * Standardization issues Please provide us with this G.E. standardization plan * Legal barriers Have you found any national or international legal barrier for the correct deployment of the G.E? Do you think that some rules should be changed in order to promote the adoption of the G.E.? * Individual Chapter Exploitation Plan After the Generic Enabler tables you can find a section for every partner who is participating in this chapter. In this section every partner should explain their plans with regard to this chapter exploitation. * What are your plans about the G.E.?. * Are you planning to introduce the G.E. into your portfolio? * Are you introducing the G.E. in any developer community? E.g. Bluevia, etc. * What role are you going to play with regard to the G.E? Will you be an integrator? Or Will you be a consultant? ------------------------------------------------------------------ This e-mail and the documents attached are confidential and intended solely for the addressee; it may also be privileged. As it was announced and also discussed at last GA Thales has decided to withdraw from WP5 and move its effort (25PM) to WP4 (Cloud Hosting). As for the rest we also announced in our reporting to Javier that we will withdraw from WP6 to move our effort to WP8 and that TRT-FR has decided to leave the consortium their asset being not selected. So just to summarize the Movements from our Thales side: ? 25 PMs of Thales (TCF) to be moved from IoT (WP5) to Cloud Hosting (WP4) ? 7 PMs of Thales (TCF) to be moved from WP6 to WP8 Last but not least: ? TRT-FR (one of the third parties of TCF) has decided to withdraw from FI-WARE. TRT-FR effort (7PMs) would also be moved to WP8. Please integrate those movements and changes in the context of amendment under preparation. Best Regards, Pascal De : fiware-pcc-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu [mailto:fiware-pcc-bounces at lists.fi-ware.eu] De la part de Juanjo Hierro Envoy? : mardi 13 mars 2012 17:04 ? : fiware-pcc at lists.fi-ware.eu Objet : [Fiware-pcc] Proposal on PMs reallocation across several WPs Hi all, I believe that is becoming urgent to fix some movements regarding PMs across several WPs that I believe would go for the benefit of the whole project. URL: From nuria.delama at atosresearch.eu Wed Mar 28 18:36:38 2012 From: nuria.delama at atosresearch.eu (Nuria De-Lama Sanchez) Date: Wed, 28 Mar 2012 18:36:38 +0200 Subject: [Fiware-pcc] Report on the Use Case meeting & Steering Board of the FI PPP (Brussels, 26-27 March) Message-ID: <66E3B1FDDB04BE4D92DC3A2BA8D98D9A979989@INTMAIL03.es.int.atosorigin.com> Dear partners, I would like to report the contents of the meetings of the FI PPP that have been held this week in Brussels. Meetings: Use Case meeting & Steering Board of the FI PPP When & Where: 26th-27th March, Brussels Who: representatives of all the projects of the FI PPP, including FI-WARE, INFINITY, the Use Cases and CONCORD A depict briefly the discussions held in Brussels pointing out some VERY RELEVANT issues for FI-WARE, but you can find attached the official minutes circulated today by CONCORD (as well as the agenda and some complementary material). ? FI PPP Working Groups o The dissemination WG is working as expected and the main topic now is the organization of the FI PPP presence in Aalborg. In the last years there was an event focused on Future Internet besides FI (the so called Future Internet Conference). This year this will not happen, but the EC is organizing kind-of Infoday of the Second Call for proposals of the FI PPP. How to organize it (which contents and our role there is still unclear, but I will keep you informed). FI-WARE in any case will be present in a very interesting session in FIA. o In the last SB a new WG was approved, focused on Business models and exploitation. My colleagues Juan (WP11 leader) and Carmen are following it on behalf of FI-WARE. They will have a face-to-face meeting in Aalborg o A new WG was proposed in this SB, this time focused on policy and regulation (see further information in the minutes) ? Second Phase of the FI PPP & support from FI-WARE o One of the hot topics of these meetings has been the support that FI-WARE will provide to the Use Case projects in their trials o Questions that Use Cases have made in a quite aggressive way (especially because they are not satisfied about the answers by FI-WARE are) ? Which test bed will they use for their trials? What will be the availability of the test bed in Seville for their initial pilots and furthermore, the trials that will happen in Phase II (even though no current project is confirmed for the next phase) ? Kind of support FI-WARE will provide (in terms of QoS, which functionalities and to which extend they can trust the performance of the platform from the point of view of scalability or other issues needed for the tests? ? Support also in terms of training to technicians in the use case projects ? With respect to the Phase II of the PPP there was also a difficult discussion related to the responsibilities of each project: who will instantiate the Core Platform, and so on and so forth Please, have a look at the attached PPT used by Werner Mohr (from NSN) and representing the FINSENY project in the SB that shows quite clearly major concerns of the Use Case projects with respect to FI-WARE. I can tell you that they are worried about possible delays and reliability of FI-WARE and all of them have their plan B. I tried to show as much collaboration as possible and openness from FI-WARE, still maintaining the statements of our project with respect to our responsibilities vis-?-vis those issues. However, I realized that Peter Fatelnig (who attended the SB) was not happy about this approach and he wants that Use Case projects use the SB a decision-support body to put pressure on FI-WARE regarding delays, availability and reliability of the project results. I think it is fair but requires that we face these issues in a serious way-. I explained that the AB is working on a paper that will give positions on the main issues already identified by the INIFNITY project in a former paper that has been used as basis for discussion. Juanjo, the commitment is that this paper (with clear commitments of FI-WARE) is ready by Mid-April and is distributed to the SB for discussion and decisions. I will explain in more detail all the contents in the next PCC teleconference. Meanwhile do not hesitate to come back to me for any doubt you may have. I do have a suggestion for you regarding the Scientific Board in FI Ware. It is almost 1,5 years since I accepted to join the scientific board of FI-ware as a Living Labs person. I had in mind to do this as part of my work as coordinator of Fireball project. Now this project is ending and I have a better proposal for you. My colleague Ms Anna St?hlbr?st, also the world's first PhD in Living Labs some years ago, is willing to replace me in your FI Ware team. She has been my team mate in our work in the PanLab project etc and other projects and she is the real expert in LivingLabs area. She is also willing to participate and also have the possibility to contribute in the FI Ware scientific board if you would like. Let me know and I will ask her to fill in the doodle poll immediately best regards and thanks for your kind offer Michael ________________________________ From: JOSE JIMENEZ DELGADO [mailto:jimenez at tid.es] Sent: den 22 mars 2012 10:19 To: 'sastry at coe.berkeley.edu'; 'ruilaa at det.ua.pt'; 'Sergio.Bandinelli at esi.es'; 'd.w.chadwick at kent.ac.uk'; 'piet.demeester at intec.ugent.be'; 'j.b.domingue at open.ac.uk'; 'dieter.fensel at sti2.at'; 'llorente at dacya.ucm.es'; Michael Nilsson; 'miguelpdl at tssg.org'; 'schotten at eit.uni-kl.de'; 'dora at telecom.ntua.gr' Cc: JUAN JOSE HIERRO SUREDA; 'fiware-pcc at lists.fi-ware.eu'; 'fiware-ga at lists.fi-ware.eu'; 'Einsiedler Hans Joachim'; MIGUEL CARRILLO PACHECO Subject: Next meeting SC Dear members of the SC I would like, first of all, to present my excuses for the delay on handling the issues related to the SC. The reason is that we have been make some administrative changes in the DoW that have an impact on the budget devoted to the SC and we were forced to reduce the number of meetings we can finally have. We shall give you full details at the event However, as promised, we would be prepared to have our first meeting soon. We are considering three possibilities 1) We meet in Aalborg at the Fia http://www.fi-aalborg.eu/ 2) we meet in Berlin, in conjunction to Funems and Celtic http://www.futurenetworksummit.eu/2012/ 3) we meet in Brussels (possibly around 19-20 June) Please state your preferences at http://www.doodle.com/f9rhcnuxw97xc5uf Note, this meeting is also compulsory for the WPL/PCC so try also to indicate your preferences In any case, I hope you are fully informed of the Project activities and our documents.
