[Fiware-portals] NO se puede editar un snapshot

Hola

Saludos,

Hi José,
I have created the snapshot "ti-pubsubcb-image", but I see it as public in "snapshot" tab, and as private in "images" tab (very strange).
Selecting the snapshot, and trying to edit it, I can change only the name of the snapshot, but no way to change public/private attribute:
<image001.jpg>
May you help me?

Thank you,
Best regards,
Sergio

Yes, sure ---

This is done. Now it is a matter of DNS names propagation.

José Ignacio.

Hi José,
I have installed the new VM and everything seems working OK.
May you please update the DNS moving the server name pubsub.testbed.fi-ware.eu<http://pubsub.testbed.fi-ware.eu> from the old IP 130.206.81.104 to the new one 130.206.81.60 ?
After some checks, I will then create the image as required, and the old VM could be deleted.

Thank you,
best regards,
Sergio

Thank you José, I looked at the cockpit only or with "df", and I hadn't used cfdisk.
I've chosen to use only the root disk (which had 5Gb of free space for another partition), with proper mapping of mount points it could be enough, I will use the 85Gb when needed.

Now I'm copying files from the old machine, so the PubSub testbed instances are not available for a while.

Best regards,
Sergio

Hi Rolando,

I've seen you have an 80Gb disk defined in your VM. Isn't it ok for you? -- In the other hand, it seems your old VM has most of the disk empty - It is only using less than 3Gb of those 50Gb. Why doesn't it fit in 10Gb root disk?

In order to use your 80Gb ephemeral disk, you'll need to create a partition on it, format the partition and mount it. --- The device driver, typically, is /dev/vdc

Best regards,
José Ignacio.

Hi Henar,
Please tell me when the disk of the new machine has been increased as required, if possible, in order to continue the installation of our software.

Thank you very much,

Hi Henar,
Thank you, also for the credentials.
I've created the new CentOS 6.3 VM ("pubsubcb-testbed", private IP 172.30.1.106, public IP 130.206.81.60), as flavor "m1.large". Is there a way to increase the disk capacity, since there were no flavors with a larger disk available at creation? Our old machine had a 50Gb disk, and this would be OK also for this new one, while the current 10Gb configuration is too small. You can switch off the VM if needed to perform operation.

Thank you,
Best regards,
Sergio

Hi

You can deploy the VM yourself as the rest of partners are doing. Please have a look at https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/testbed/index.php/Testbed_V2_Operation_Cockpit. I will send an account in a different mail. It is not possible to specify the host to be allocated, but the transfer rate is high.

Henar

Hi Henar,
In order to provide the image, as discussed before holidays we need to move the installation of our PubSub GE to a new CentOS 6 VM.
Could you please provide us the new VM as described in my email? Please note that the highlighted part is very important.

Thank you very much,
Best regards,
Sergio

Hi Henar,
I fear that the easiest and most reliable solution is that you create a brand new CentOS 6 VM (for internal installations we have installed our software on v.6.3 without problems), hosted by the same physical machine that hosts our old PubSub Centos 5 VM and on the same subnet. It is important that we can mount disks of the old machine on the new one, in order to speed up the copy of our software and configurations. I will install everything on the new machine, which at the end you will be able to migrate to OpenStack.
When (and only when) the new machine PubSub installation is tested OK, the old one could be deleted.

This way we always have the service available, and we won't risk damaging the current installation.
I think that, once having the new CentOS 6 VM available, the installation will be a matter of two days' work.

I'll be on vacation from Aug 12th to Sept 8th, so from my side this could be done during the second week of September.

It's a pity, because if we had asked CentOS 6 from the beginning this job would have not been necessary, but we could not foresee this problem at that time...

Thank you,
best regards,
Sergio

Hi Henar,

yes, we can.

Once Nacho and Sergio (TI) will be back from the holidays.

Sergio (TI) will provide a detailed plan for such migration as you suggested -> CentOS6.

Best Regards,
Boris

Hi Boris

As your GE has not been imported in Openstack since the OS was not supported by the Openstack installation, let's think how to process for the creation of the image. When Nacho come back his holiday, we will comment to you. Can you migrate your GE to a supported GE, Centos 6? Or perphaps you can create recipes for installing your software in VMs.

The WIKI page was a mistake. The URL is http://130.206.80.61. I have already corrected it.

Henar

Hi Sergio,

as I have mentioned in the last audio-conference, I DO remember setting 60% for the service migration (currently is set to 70% by someone executed the unit tests) and I DO NOT remember to have set 60% for the image creation. Maybe you have a log file confirming that, however it looks strange to me that I did something that not followed instruction just above that table, but it might been happened (to many things clashed).

Unfortunately the OpenStack nova cloud dashboard http://130.206.80.61/nova/ is not available currently. Nevertheless, I have had access to that web-site few days ago, observing 5 or 6 entries in Data chapter.
As far as I'm informed by Jose, the PSB WAS NOT migrated into OpenStack ("Unfortunately there has been no migration :( --- It was simply a movement from a phisical node to the next one."), but it has got a substituted VM.
Henar has confirmed that she "has seen" our instance in OpenStack. I cannot see it, sorry, moreover we never have been informed of this migration, so we didn't tested it and I am NOT aware what is went on after I've been informed by Jose.

Please may we synchronize and clarify what IS the status of the migration and of the instance?

Once the OpenStack nova cloud will be again accessible we will move forward with the rest of the image creation if is still feasible.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
Boris

Hi Boris,
I've removed a "60" that you had added to the cockpit
https://forge.fi-ware.eu/plugins/mediawiki/wiki/testbed/index.php/Testbed_V2_Implementation_Cockpit

for the VM image of the dedicated instances. If you have the image ready, the value should be 20, is it ready? Could you update the cockpit and add the path to the VMi?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Sergio.
