[Fiware-portals] URGENTE: Vídeos y página "Help&Info" basada en Wordpress

Hola,

  Saludos,

-- Juanjo

Dear Juanjo, dear all,

I’ve been looking into open lab because we want to use some GEs in CRISMA, and while I’m not overly concerned about quality of service (as you say 24/7 should not be expected for free anyway), I did observe:

- First and foremost, there seems to be no FAQ or such on the lab site. Maybe some form of FaQ exists elsewhere, but I could not find it.

Some questions I would like to see in the FAQ are:

- Which GEs play a role in this lab. I can recognise most, but it’s not always 100% clear. It will be worse for people who are new to FI-Ware.

- Is it possible to add own bits and pieces to the lab? (widgets, VM-images, blueprints…).

o If yes, how? Tutorial? Docu?

- About VM images:

o Is it possible to upload own images?

o Is it possible to download existing images and install them elsewhere?

o Is it possible to obtain VM with windows (against payment OK)?

- Same questions for the blueprints.

- Is it possible to install the lab as it is now on own site (private cloud)?

o If yes, where to find the tutorial.

o Under which conditions?

Hope this helps
                Denis

Dear Philipp,

FI-LAB doesn't include 24x7 support as you probably know. The incident you mentioned happened during not working hours ... and was fixed first thing in the morning the following day.

Nevertheless, it was nice that you find out this situation because this has motivated us to implement measures that will allow us to easily and automatically replace all the FI-LAB portal web pages to a "work in progress" general page in case that there are problems with any of the portals. This, as you mentioned, is better than leaving things partly up/down.

We have also implemented some automatic "watchers" that help us to detect fall-down scenarios and keep improving them. Nevertheless, don't hesitate to report this whenever you find something wrong during some period in FI-LAB as to implement the above measure. Please send an email to fiware-lab-help (I guess that sending an email to the ab mailing list is not so suitable for that purpose :-)

We are also completing some "getting started" videos that help people to start working with FI-LAB, even in the case they are not willing to read the manuals or any documentation (that is unfortunately, something typical). We hope to get them ready soon. It was always on our ToDo, but we couldn't complete them on time before launching the FI-LAB because we had a lot of more urgent things to fix first and the date for launching FI-LAB was a fix date.

  Best regards,

-- Juanjo

Hi all,

I am a bit confused: Is the FI-LAB site temporarily broken or just not

ready?

Since the FI-LAB was officially launched in London last week, I thought

I take a look today (follow link from top menu on fi-ware.eu).

What I saw was not pretty:

-- The menu entry for Cloud (that worked a few days ago, I heard) is

defunct now.

-- There actually is some Wirecloud stuff under Store (but seem not to

be able to use any of this in a meaningful way).

-- The Mashup tab shows some blank screen but there seems to be no way

to put anything onto it (I tried everything I could think of).

-- I cannot find ANY of the FI-WARE GEs anywhere. I checked the catalog

entry for CEP (randomly) and it says that an instance for FI-LAB is

available, but its not in the Lab.

-- There are many navigation entries on the site that make little sense

to me (e.g. what is the difference between the Store and the Catalog --

isn't this the same thing) and then there is also a Marketplace under

Mashup (now is this something else again?).

-- On the account page it states that I have no application yet (Why

should I? What does that even mean?) and allows me to create some kind

of Organization but without any explanation as to what this all about.

The menus look even worse under FF than under Chrome (I tried both as I

thought the error comes from using the wrong browser).

Etc.

Besides a short note on the opening on the FI-LAB there seems to be no

meaningful information available on the FI-LAB web site as to what this

even is and how to use it. At least I could not find it.

I hope no one of the commission is looking at this right now :-(

When can we expect a working version of the FI-Lab? If this takes longer

than a day, I would suggest to take this down until its fixed -- this

would probably be better than showing what is there right now.

Best,

  Philipp
