Hello,

Javier, Henar,

Now I see that the script could be useful to enable additional features.

I tried to launch VMs with 2 network (as suggested by Henar) but the script 
seems not working in Trento Node (the network configuration it is not 
applied). I used ubuntu (Ubuntu 14.04 from cloud-images.ubuntu.com) and 
CentOS (CentOS-6.2-sdc) and both have cloud-inint installed (see attached 
log).

Do you have any suggestion to solve this issue?



This use case – VM attached to two network – it’s a very interesting 
scenario for multiple external networks.

So I'll wait to hear back from you.

In regions that do not have neutron (like the one in Spain) you can see in 
the Cloud Portal that the script is not filled, so you it shouldn't be a 
problem at all.

hi henar,

i know for the chef/puppet part (i recall discussing this with fernando). 
the problem is that the script may not work on something different from 
centos, and that network configuration is largely depending also on the 
openstack set-up. for example spain does not use yet neutron. not sure if 
this was properly tested on all combinations.

We are using the user_data funciontality plus cloud-init library to 
configure the VMs. For instance, if a VM is deployed on two networks, the VM 
needs to have two network interface. The way to do that is by the cloud-init 
configuration. We agree with UPM portal to show this script, so that, the 
user is aware we are configuring its VM. In addition, we are using this 
cloud-init configuration to install the chef and puppet for blueprint 
configuration.

I noticed that the Cloud Portal uses a default script configuration (look at 
the attached file and below) when a try to boot a VM.

This script is the same for all XIFI nodes and for all the images. Is it 
useful?

The images I’ve tried work fine without this script that seems designed only 
for CentOS images.
