Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, I'm afraid this mail didn't arrive to this list
because I failed moderating it and didn't realize on time.
A number of projects funded by the EC under programs somehow
connected to the BDV (Big Data Value) PPP, namely EUH4Data, i4Trust,
BD4NRG, PLATOON, Synergy and DataPorts have agreed on creating a "Data
Spaces Synergy Group" aimed at collaborating and exploiting synergies
towards creation open standard-based, open source available, and
CEF-compatible soft infrastructure for creation of data spaces in Europe.
This Synergy Group is not about "let's start discussion what data
spaces are about and start from the scratch the discussion about what
technologies are more appropriate" but bringing together projects that
already share a vision of what are the concrete baseline technologies
and initiatives to rely on and integrate when addressing materialization
of the mentioned taxonomy of Data Spaces Building Blocks:
*
*ETSI NGSI-LD
<https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_gs/CIM/001_099/009/01.04.02_60/gs_CIM009v010402p.pdf>,
implemented by FIWARE Context Broker components
<https://github.com/FIWARE/catalogue#core-context-broker-components>,
as a standard mechanism for effective data exchange among participants.*
*
*The Smart Data Models initiative (github
<https://github.com/smart-data-models>, website
<https://smartdatamodels.org/>) as the initiative of reference for
the publication of the models describing data that participants of
data spaces exchange.*
*
*Open Standards for Identity and Access Management at organization
and user level, to be combined with technologies for Data Usage
Control. Here, there is the need to explore how to reconcile the use
of open standards like OpenId Connect <https://openid.net/>, JWT
<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc7519>/JWS
<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc7515>and XACML
<http://docs.oasis-open.org/xacml/3.0/xacml-3.0-core-spec-os-en.html>,
with the eID/eIDAS
<https://ec.europa.eu/cefdigital/wiki/display/CEFDIGITAL/eID>service,
and elements from the IDS Reference Architecture Model (RAM) like
IDS Connectors.*
* **DCAT (v2 <https://www.w3.org/TR/vocab-dcat-2/>, v3
<https://www.w3.org/TR/vocab-dcat-3/>) and DCAT-AP
<https://ec.europa.eu/isa2/solutions/dcat-application-profile-data-portals-europe_en>as
the basis for creation of services for data publication and brokering**
*
***TM Forum Open APIs <https://github.com/tmforum-apis>as basis for
the creation of Marketplace services through which participants can
publish their offerings regarding data and data processing apps and
services.***

A kick-off workshop involved the above projects took place last
Friday from 09:00 to 12:00. Please find the minutes
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/14PmzuPxMm3CpHdWgMYBnlsXDcz2xn1iqBUz41JdcDQU/edit?usp=sharing>
that include the relevant terms of reference.
Perhaps not all parts of the discussion will be relevant for you
because I guess some discussions will be very much connected to
activities in projects (e.g., collaboration in deliverables they have)
but in any case, let me share the info.
Unfortunately, this mail should have arrived to your inbox last week
prior to the meeting, but something failed (size of message and also the
fact that I was not initially myself registered as member of this list
:-). Therefore, it got moderated and, since I didn't realize, it
remained in the queue without going through. Apologies again.
Nevertheless, don't worry, this is just a kick-off, there will be the
chance to participate in the discussions after this kick-off. And we
will have to figure out what discussions make sense to bring there and
what others keep within this FIWARE Data Spaces Roadmap WG. I someone
asks my opinion, it would be great to adopt an approach similar to the
one we had with ETSI for Digital Twins, where we created a joint
FIWARE-ETSI ISG CIM working group to discuss how to move forward towards
support of Digital Twins (including evolution of NGSI-LD), therefore we
could create a joint FIWARE-BDVA or even a joint FIWARE-BDVA-IDSA
working group to discuss towards materialization of Data Spaces. But
let's see what are the feelings (happy if anyone wish to join and
precisely bring that proposal to the table ;-)
If you decide that you want to keep connected to the activities of
this Data Spaces Synergy Group, please add your name in the following
table of representatives in the Data Spaces Synergy Group
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1coPkqvblF9ntosyrmidsfyoFXRZhHaiNDv1C0pKn0Ls/edit?usp=sharing>.
Hints:
* One person may wish to be registered in more than one Task Force,
however, only one of them should be marked as primary (X) and the
rest as secondary (s)
* Your organization, or a project your organization is involved and
you manage to also engage in this, should designate only one person
as main representative in each Task Force, the name for that person
should be marked in bold. That person should of course have an X
(also marked in bold) in the column corresponding to the Task Force
(that person may have a 's' in other Task Forces).
* If your organization is interested but you are not bringing a EC
funded project connected to the BDV PPP to the table, just place
"FIWARE" under column "Project / Community" and the name of your
Organization.
We will certainly address results and discuss about next steps in
connection to this workshop during the next call of the FIWARE Data
Spaces Roadmap WG.
Cheers,
