Dear AllJoyn, Fi-Ware, oneM2M and universAAL communities, your four communities have been identified as the most advanced ones that are targeting Internet of Things / device ensembles / "open distributed systems". The Action Group C2 of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) <https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/eipaha/actiongroup/index/c2> has mandated me to try to create an organizing committee for a shared event on overlapping "Open Platform" approaches to IoT with the goal of exchanging knowledge and leveraging synergies. The European Commission has offered to host the event at its premises in Brussels. A rough idea (naturally subject to discussion) is that probably within two days, the event should first give enough opportunity to each community to present the *_characteristic details_* of the corresponding _*technical approach*_. Then in some parallel topic-specific sessions, discuss the overlaps and possible synergies, and finally report from each session to the plenary and conclude if any common roadmap or even actions can be agreed on. From a timing perspective, this is what I would suggest: * until mid of November 2014: to form an organizing committee for this event from the representatives of the four communities (e.g., two people from each community) * until mid of December 2015: to agree on the general approach, fix the date, and publish an announcement text * until end of January 2015: to finalize the agenda * somewhere in February / March 2015: to have the event What do you think? Would you join and collaborate?
