In 2018, the well-known exhibition centre in Brno will celebrate 
its 90th anniversary. In the same year, to be more precise, on   
25th - 28th April 2018, it will be the venue for the URBIS Smart 
City Fair. The Fair, which will focus on the importance of       
looking to the future, will host leaders in innovation and       
suppliers of smart city solutions. This backdrop will provide the
perfect opportunity to meet active citizens and representatives  
of villages, towns, cities and counties. In this way, Central    
Europe´s most important exhibition centre will be bringing       
together visionary technologies that will significantly improve  
people’s quality of life in the coming years.

The URBIS Smart City Fair is a culmination of the exceptional    
innovative potential that exists in Brno. This is therefore an   
opportunity to present your technologies, visions and solutions, 
as well as promote the positive impact these will have on        
people’s lives to those who will make the decisions concerning   
their implementation. Whether you’re a multinational company or a
local firm, you’ll be able to present your products to those who 
are really interested in them. A gold medal will be awarded to   
the Best of Fair. This prestigious award has been a tradition in 
Brno for over 60 years. The award is seen as an additional tool  
with which companies can convince customers about the quality of 
their product(s) or solution(s). The gold medal is awarded by a  
jury panel whose members include international experts.

The programme for the URBIS Smart City Fair 2018 will be packed  
with lectures and workshops, the focus of which will be the      
sharing of knowledge and experience. Top experts, as well as the 
most innovative cities, will be at your disposal. One of the many
speakers will be Thomas Madreiter, the main architect behind     
Smart City Vienna. Also sharing their experience will be the     
Dutch city of Rotterdam and the Swedish town of Umea. The        
embassies of the United States, France and Norway will be        
presenting the best of their home technologies. The Fair will    
also be the backdrop for a Visegrad Four summit of Smart City    
leaders.

The uniqueness of the URBIS Smart City Fair is built on the      
interconnection that exists between the organiser, Veletrhy Brno 
a.s., and the city of Brno. For the past century, this very      
interconnection has earned Brno the reputation of being a        
cosmopolitan place where business, ideas and opinions come       
together. The favourable location close to Vienna, Prague and    
Bratislava is amplified by the dynamics and the freshness of the 
authentic atmosphere of a young student city. This is also why   
prestigious media such as The New York Times or The Guardian keep
regularly including Brno in their lists of top cities to visit.
