From Lindsay.Frost at neclab.eu Thu Nov 15 22:12:54 2012 From: Lindsay.Frost at neclab.eu (Lindsay Frost) Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2012 21:12:54 +0000 Subject: [Fiware-standardization] FIWare Standardization -- better to be proactive than deactivated Message-ID: <58967817BA9AEA4E92A38F89CE2EA9325506DE58@Hydra.office.hd> Dear all, we are waiting for the EC to tell our "score" for the Standardization Plan D11.4.2 but already we are more than 30% into the period for our next report, due in July 2013: D11.4.1 due Month 09 + 05/2011 = 01/2012 (actually delivered 16.03.2012 ... rejected but no need redo) D11.4.2 due Month 15 + 05/2011 = 07/2012 (actually delivered 03.08.2012 ... waiting for Review back) D11.4.3 due Month 27 + 05/2011 = 07/2013 (need to show "meaningful interaction") D11.4.4 due Month 36 + 05/2011 = 04/2014 (need to show FIWare impacted SDOs, or v.v.) That means we have about 6 real working months to show "meaningful interaction" with the SDOs. What is that? I think it means that we need to focus on our most relevant SDOs ( which do you think ? ) and take steps like below (listed in order of difficulty): a) (active monitoring for FIWARE purposes of some SDO activities ... this does not count as "meaningful interaction") b) notify them that we use their protocols c) give presentations about why FIWARE is relevant to them d) ask feedback on FIWARE documents e) input FIWARE work into their programs Can you please reply if any of you have seen ANYTHING like activities (b)..(e) in ANY of the relevant SDOs ?? And can you suggest which SDO meetings can be used in the next 3-4 months to "inject" some of our effort ? If I unfortunately get "no" and "no" or "silence" as answers, then we will be in very deep trouble (more than so far). Any positive answers are therefore much appreciated! best wishes Lindsay PS: NEC is preparing for OMA a contribution on NGSI _____________________________________________ Dr. Lindsay Frost, Chief Standardization Eng.
