Despite the determined efforts of NEC, who have made a good work, our standardization deliverables are somewhat weak. Standardization is expected to gain in maturity and depth and "yet another" release will not be enough for the coming review. Please make sure that your contributions are solid. To start with, I encourage you to take a look at Lindsay's message and reply accordingly. I already forwarded him the holidays in Spain, btw. Best regards, Miguel El 22/01/2013 15:41, Lindsay Frost escribi?: Dear all, we are all waiting for the definitive results of the last EC review, but we can already get started on a simple task which will make organizing meetings/reports/activities much easier: a common calendar. I have put a lot of work into making a useful interactive tool for "all" relevant SDOs, and I attach a first draft here as XLSX. Already I think you may find it useful. Entered into the big "timeline" sheet are all meetings of 3GPP, IETF, BBF, OneM2M and a few others. On the "summary" sheet you can see a single-page calendar overview where you can set to "1" the SDOs which interest you and see what days in the year they meet. Dates which are "crossed through" are holidays (German ones shown in screenshot, others can be shown by putting a "1" next to the country list). But there is much information which I do not have ... and I am anyway not the person to decide what is "relevant" for your work! Therefore I would like to ask : a) which SDO working groups should be in the list ? (see "SDO List" sheet of the XLS file for my initial guesstimate, but it needs shortening and refining, for example so far no info on DMTF, IRTF, OASIS, OGC, OMA, W3C, WAC, etc b) can you please send info or update the table for your most important SDO work groups ? When the tool is a bit more up-to-date, and when we have the EC review comments, then we can discuss which SDO meetings deserve some high-profile FI-WARE inputs :-) (e.g. in Big-Data, Cloud, etc) best wishes, and looking forward to your feedback, e.g. for adding Spanish and French holidays in the list ;-) Lindsay _____________________________________________ Dr. Lindsay Frost, Chief Standardization Eng. The attached file works in excel2003 and higher, and all functions are visible even if no macro is permitted by your security rules. [cid:part11.05010105.00070509 at tid.es] Now I would like to ask your help, to really tell me _which_ SDOs are relevant to your Work Packages and to mark in the dates in the SDO timeline for those _relevant_ SDOs. The idea is to make a plan of how/when the FIWARE development overlaps to _relevant_ SDO groups, and at what meeting FIWARE should (a) introduce the project, (b) contribute or (c) continue just with monitoring. But first let us choose the SDO WGs and find their timing! I made a place to show this XLS file on the FIWARE WIKI, see "SDO_Calendar_2013" but I could not succeed to upload a .xlsm file to link there ... can anyone help me do that? best wishes Lindsay ________________________________________ Dr. Lindsay Frost, Chief Standardization Eng. frost at neclab.eu Mobile +49.163.275.1734 NEC Laboratories Europe, Kurf?rsten-Anlage 36, 69115 Heidelberg, Germany. It is downloadable only by FI-WARE members and the EU commission. As a FIRST example of using it, Luca Giacomello has kindly provided a DRAFT "activity" for the date 09.12.2013. You should see it on the "Timeline" worksheet immediately on opening the xlsm link at the text "SDO_Calendar_2013" on the FI-WARE Exploitation area (or at the first hyperlink in this email): DRAFT SCHEDULE "OSGi Cloud proxy" Presentation and/or Demo of WP7 "Interfaces to network" technology at HGI EVENT. This will show the EU commission and all FI-WARE partners that FI-WARE is impacting standards. Of course changes and delays etc will happen frequently, but it is important to start this. So, what kind of activity can _your_ Work Package propose ?? Please ask your teams! Please supply one or more simple texts like the example given above. Thank you for replying to all when answering, so we can quickly see what objections or improvements are needed. best wishes Lindsay PS: Apologies to Luca! The old xls on the server does not match the desired message above. I will fix it as soon as somebody has time to help me with some problems (a) my ignorance of proper method, (b) lack of authorization, (c) both PPS: I am happy to add also new SDO events, interesting workshops, national holidays, etc ... it should be useful and interesting for everybody ;-) ... just email me privately and I will update. ________________________________________ Dr. Lindsay Frost, Chief Standardization Eng. frost at neclab.eu Mobile +49.163.275.1734 NEC Laboratories Europe, Kurf?rsten-Anlage 36, 69115 Heidelberg, Germany.
