Hi all, Regarding my actions: * @Nuria: Produce first version of WP on Communication and Dissemination --> that was DONE before you sent your e-mail ☺. You should find it in google drive * @Nuria: could you please upload in the file linked to section 2 the contents of the current draft you have generated? That would allow us to review it collaboratively. --> DONE (it changed a bit the format I had and I realized that you cannot do copy & paste with the pictures, but you should have the draft version there) By the way, remember that I assigned short sections under Impact to some of you. Please, send the appointment for tomorrow’s call (if this is kept), since I will be disconnected during the morning. Besides adding them to this list, I have given them access to the Google drive folder where we are integrating all the material: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6GGeaQGro3fdEVYOWNYaUgtVjQ&usp=sharing I have already sent additional invitations to Silvio Cretti (Create-Net) and the Kurento team. I hope to have them on board by end of today. I would like to ask Orange about letting me know the contact point for Imagine Lab. This mail tries to give a little bit of background to newcomers and assign some work to ALL so please read it carefully so that you can start working on assigned Action Points. Thanks to Stefano for producing the files in Google docs with the template for sections 1, 2 and 3 as well as 4-5 under the folder for Part B. I have incorporated changes to fine-tune the styles of headings and normal text, also to add the headers, footers, etc. pretty printing overall. I have also added the structure for section 1.1 (Objectives) and 1.2 (Relation to the Work Programme). Description of WPs remain aside. We will incorporate them in section 3 at the very end. You can find specific files in the Part B folder for them. For those of you who are newcomers, let me try to give some background so that you can quickly get on board: * The very first thing to let you know is that, yes, the proposal is still pretty immature ... we have spent most of the time in negotiating the scope with the EC and also agree on the approach among main FIWARE Core Industry Group partners ... so 9 days of pretty hard work writing the proposal are in front of us! However, bear in mind that Nuria is coming with a first complete proposal of the whole section 2 and WPs are starting to take shape, so we should be soon in a better shape. Section 1 is probably the one that is in a more weak situation. * There is little funding we can go for. Maximum (according to the call text) is 6 M€, but we would like to stay as closer to 5 M€ as possible. This was something I had already anticipated to you in previous conversations, so shouldn't come as a surprise. * The FIWARE Foundation will be part of the consortium as a partner despite it is not still created as a legal entity. For this, we will obtain a PIC number and will estimate direct costs per month. * We'll go for simplicity, this is not a very big project (as compared to the FIWARE initiative ;-) so we will have definitively much less WPs than in FI-Core (as well as number of partners): * A WP (FIWARE Open Source Community Processes Support) dealing with support to processes of the FIWARE OS Community, including support to FIWARE TC activities, Agile scrum master activities (monitoring support and coordinating sprints within releases), Quality Assurance activities and activities aimed to foster contribution (on existing GEs through a Bounty programme or new GEs) * A WP (FIWARE Evolution) where we will tackle specific questions regarding roadmap of FIWARE we will argue we aim at accelerating based on assigned funding. Note that this means there will not be funding assigned to FIWARE chapters but focused on improving or covering certain strategic aspects (each FIWARE GE owner is supposed to have strategic interest in GEs they contribute to FIWARE and they are expected to support and evolve them according to the roadmap driven by needs of their actual customers on their own). * A WP (FIWARE Lab) where we will cover overall coordination of FIWARE Lab activities, development of tools suited to easy operations of FIWARE Lab nodes (in some cases potentially leading to contribution to OpenStack) and operation of the FIWARE Lab nodes. * A WP on Communication and Dissemination where we will cover Communication as well as presence in events where we want to position FIWARE. This will be a WP mostly involving resources from the FIWARE Foundation which will subcontract activities of the FIWARE Press Office (production of marketing material, etc.) Some % of efforts by partners may be also covered here * A WP on Exploitation (which we may merge with previous) dealing with Standardization an Collaboration activities. Standardization would be focused on specific standardization activities (e.g., participation in ISG at ETSI) whereas Collaboration would include collaboration with other programmes within the FIWARE Community as well as collaboration with other initiatives where we aim at positioning FIWARE (e.g., OASC, Digitising the European Industry initiative, etc) * A standard WP for project management. Now here it is a list of Action Points I would like to propose: * @ALL, provide their detailed direct costs per PM and number of PMs per 1 FTE (some organizations are 12 PMs, other 11 PMs). Please clarify whether you are or not a non-profit organization: * https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EFXj77ZRf_-SVSluwcrcKDMo4S9SCb7MfH34xg-RZP4/edit?usp=sharing * @ALL: Please, any changes on proposed text should be traceable. That means that when you are reviewing a piece of text produced by current owner of a section, you should incorporate those changes with changes traceability activated. This is accomplish in Google docs by means of selecting "suggested edits" if you click the right button of your mouse at any paragraph of the document. Behavior is rather similar to MS Word so you will find yourself if you hadn't used this feature already. * @ALL: Deal with work you have been assigned (either as current editor or reviewer) in the project proposal cockpit: * https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1A-TPr4j4b47D4Uye4pAAvuMqaRlOMNmX6Hd2zbUF9Vk/edit?usp=sharing * Check if you have been designated as current main editor or coordinator, or even contributor, of a section and if the status is marked as "not started" ... That means you have to start writing as soon as possible ... When you do son, please mark the status as "under edition". That would mean you have taken responsibility. Otherwise, we'll go after you ;-) * Be proactive. If you believe you can contribute to any section, please volunteer yourself. If you find you could start with whatever section for which you were not listed as coordinator or contributor, don't hesitate to start and mark the status "under edition" and tell the coordinator. Don't wait for instructions of the coordinator: bring pieces of text you believe it will be helpful for the main editor to consider and adapt. Could be even under developed ideas. * If you are main editor/coordinator of a section and you believe it is ready for review, transition the state to "ready for review", assign reviewers and send an email explaining you have done so. * If you have been designated as reviewer, mark the state of the section to "under review" when you actually start reviewing but not earlier. When finished, mark it as "reviewed" * If you are the main editor/coordinator of a section that has been "reviewed", you should go through proposed changes/comments and process them until the section becomes "ready" (maybe for another round of review or final, we will see). * I'll will come with some insights to Philipp regarding description of Task 3.1 * @Nuria: Produce first version of WP on Communication and Dissemination * @Nuria: could you please upload in the file linked to section 2 the contents of the current draft you have generated? That would allow us to review it collaboratively. * @ALL: Please keep your Skype channel "on" or provide alternative mean to email so that we can reach you at any time. Please provide your Skype username at the tab titled "Means to contact" in: * https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1A-TPr4j4b47D4Uye4pAAvuMqaRlOMNmX6Hd2zbUF9Vk/edit?usp=sharing I believe this is all for the time being ...
